    Stanislav Varga has confirmed he will sign a new one-year deal with Celtic.
    The Slovakian defender overcame a stomach virus to fly out for a tour of the
    United States with the rest of his team-mates on Monday.
    And he announced his future with the Parkhead side will be finalised in the
    next few days.
    He said: ``Everything's looking good and I will sign a new contract for one
    more year.
    ``I'm feeling lousy at the moment and haven't been at all well but it will be
    good to get things sorted out.''
    Varga has been handed a lifeline by manager Gordon Strachan after Bobo Balde
    was ruled out for the start of the season.
    This left him short of cover and experience, despite the arrival of Gary
    Caldwell from Hibernian.

    Varga is a decent & experienced squad player who has very rarely let us down when he's been called upon.

    Think Varga signing on will be good news. Has good experience with Celtic...maybe not the best of defenders but he will be good back up to have.

    This borders on being pathetic, Celtic fans wait for preseason signings of significance and because a liability Balde in unavailable Varga is in the news, also on the official website they talk about the magazine Celtic View being out, guess that will be the headlines, Varga signs for another year.
    Celtic fans the best in the world deserve more than this, what a * insult, Celtic management! :47:

    Mate, do you do anything besides slag off things to do with Celtic? You´d be annoyed if Strachan rushed into a signing and he came out to be a dud..so he´s taking his time. When Celtic start the season and haven´t made another signing then I´ll say fair enough, nows the time to feel a little bit annoyed at the lack of signings. Varga has good experience and will be good back up. Thats Balde, Caldwell, Varga, McManus and Kennedy we have at CB...isn´t that bad. Keep the faith and hope Strachan has a few signigns up his sleeve.

    varga is well past his best, we should have signed russell anderson from aberdeen, 10 times the player varga is, and his wages would not be a problem.

    He doesn´t have the Experience Varga does though, and he wont be settled into playing with Balde or Mick, like Varga is. Also, Varga is already here, we don´t need to spend a fee on signing anyone.

    I slag off things to do with the negatives at Celtic Park, Lawwell, The board, and majority shareholder, they are the ones holding back progress, as it is and I am serious, Celtic and GS will have one tough season ahead, because we are not signing needed players.
    As I have said watch all the preseason games, that should give you a clue? *

    We cannot spend money that we cannot afford to spend. I actually think the funds ( i'm guessing 5-7mil ) should be adequate but we need to use the market better. Remember Henrik, Cadete, V.Hooidonk, Di Canio, Mjallby, Lubo etc.
