Let's hope Strachan can argue his point well enough to the board for them to free up at least some cash to buy 2 quality players. He's already come out and admitted his side are rookies and he desperately needs experience.

I bet though that even if we got 5 or 6 million from selling petrov we'd never see all of that cash or even most of it go on new players :54:

The team i would pick for next game

    Boruc
    Wilson Caldwell McManus Pearson
    McGeady Sno Petrov Maloney
    Jarosik Magic

    Best i can see imo.

    Match-Report DC V CELTIC.....

    DC United (4) v (0) Celtic
    Washington, USA
    Pre-season friendly

Celtic kick start their Pre-season friendly with DC United a USA Based team who are all ready in half of the season in america, Celtic have also has 2 previous friendlies in their trip to Poland but no goals and no wins for Celtic in Poland with a 1-0 loss against Champions of Poland Legia Warsaw and a 2-0 loss against Runners up of Poland Wisla Krakow so Celtic were looking for a win and goals here in the USA give us fans hope that we can be good in Europe.

Celtic and DC United kicked off at 00:30 (GMT) but DC United were the team who started well with good play from Freddy Adu who i think looks class even though i have not seen him before. Mark Wilson yet again played well in defence at Left Back for Celtic plus having a shot at Goal but it wasn't enough for the Former Dundee United Defender to go on the score sheet. Jiri Jarosic in the 1st half of the match but playing reasonably well.

Caldwell for me is playing good taking a sore one of the hip im sure it was, but dont worry its not an injury for the former hibs captain he also was good in defence by stopping some shots from the DC United counter attack. But would you beleive it but Paul Telfer is not playing veryy well but he hardly does even at that he needs to up his game a little to stop DC United scoring.

Maloney played excellent in the 1st half by nearly scoring early on in the match and again later on with another shot in the 1st half. Petrov also made a counter attack but it was saved by the DC goalkeeper. well it was the 44th minute the score was opened and it was from teenage sensation Freddy Adu of DC United who scored the goal, it was shocking play from the defence who were no were apart from Big Mick who still coudn't defend the goal. Bad Goalkeeping from Marshall who came out with his legs oppened which i thought he should'nt have done but as the half time whistle went it was DC United with the 1 goal lead.

Now the second half from Washington with Stephen Pearson joining the team in the second half, Kenny Miller had a few shots on target before the 56th minute were a brilliant strike from DC United that got past David Marshall who made it 2-0 for DC United. I like to watch this guy Freddy Adu play as he has great skill and has scored 2 cracking goals for DC United.

Neil Lennon had a wee chance to score but couldnt get a shot in but as we do we will let him off with not scoring. The 65th minute was a dissapointing minute for Celtic with Kenny Miller getting sent off:31: :31: :31: :31: by a challenge mad which i though was a bad one but the sending of was harsh im my opinion with it being a friendly but the referee didnt think like myself. Then from that free kick there was goal from DC United to make it 3-0 and it was a header from DC United and Marshall didnt even move and the look on his face was a gutted one and so he should have been, but the celtic defence were also sleeping.

Aiden Mcgeady came on soon after the goal and Evander Sno also came on in his st game for Celtic. The 77th minute was another bad minute for Celtic with DC United scoring a 4th goal and it was shockin pla by the celtic defence. Alan Thompson:47: was the man to come on in the 80th minute for Celtic but it was Stephen McManus got a header in the 82nd minute from the corner but was unable to score, great chance though.

Derek Riordan also came on for Celtic to make his debut along side Shaun Maloney and Telfer crossed the ball over and Thommo just couldnt score.(pure sitter) Shocking result for Celtic and im hoping the can start winning their friendlies now or even get goals coz thats now 3 games and no-fecking goals personally its not good enough!!!!!!!-- Always the game on the 14th but GS has to get IT RIGHT or else!!!

The board has had a bit of an easy ride lately and have, perhaps, been lucky Eck McLeish was the man in the hot seat down the road. Eck's worst season coincided with Strachan winning the league and I hope the board weren't blinded by this.

If that's the team that has to go into the champions league then I'd best start wearing my sons nappies.

We could have taken on a load of duff teams in south africa and hammerd 4 past them. Does that make us a team. It would be the same squad of players.

We played two experienced teams from Poland and a on form team from the MSL who are at peak fitness. I'll worry about rangers when the action really starts..

Personally I think in order to have a chance from progressing in the Champions League the line would need to be something like this:

    Boruc
New Player : New Player : New Player : New Player
    Nakamura : Jarosik : Petrov : Maloney
    New Player : Magic

i told everyone at the end of last season strachan was clueless and all i got was abuse the man is tactically inept he brought in a striker last season to fill a defensive hole, bought a naturally talented right sided defender but refused to play him there because it meant his lovechild wouldn't get a game, this team now is strachans team and we haven't moved forwards we've gone backwards to the pre MON era.I warned everyone that we were in a false position in regards to how well we won the title by because rangers had an appalling season by anyone's standards and hearts kept imploding, sacking manager after manager.Last season our problems were our defence, has he sorted it? has he *,maybe caldwell and mcmanus wanna be wingers because they were so far apart that dc united kept bearing down on marshall time and time again. The only signing he's made thats worthwhile is jarosik, miller is a psycho and should never wear the hoops again, what he did tonight was a disgusting thing to do in a friendly,he could have broke the players legs.If it wasn't hard enough to sign players before who's gonna wannna sign for a team that was made to look like a school football team.I'm totally disgusted and upset at what strachan is doing to my club and the excuse it's only a friendly don't wash, these players should have pride in the shirt they wear and to show a complete lack of effort is disrespectful to the shirt and the fans of celtic.I hope each and everyone of them players takes a good long look at themselves and remembers it's us that pay the wages and they owe us performances which at least show a desire to play for the shirt and and the club

Sorry for posting without introducing myself, but tonight's result merits it. I was really disappointed about tonight's game because of the lack of respect it showed to US based Celtic supporters. We paid good money to go to the match, which we can't often do because we live 3,000 miles from Parkhead. The players looked like they were just going through the motions tonight without caring about the result. I was disappointed and embarassed in front of DC United fans tonight, a bunch of ragtag wannabe football fans who have no idea what it means to support a legendary club like Celtic.

it's tough to support a legendary club when you live in the US, unless you get all plastic and support a team from a country you don't live in and probably never even been to.
