Well here is hoping we get Sol Campbell cos thats not a dead cert yet is it? But do you guys think if Campbell does sign that this should be our centre back pairing for next season? & if so, We should actually keep it as that. I think that was our major downfall last season, we changed the centre backs far to much! So if we have a settled centre back pairing, preferably a settled back 4 or 3 I think we should be alright :50:

Or do you think we should pair McManus, Loovens, Rogne or O'Dea with Campbell??

Hooiveld still has alot to prove, also we have Rogne and "if" he comes back McManus, Thompson, O'Dea and also Loovens. I would probably have to wait and see how they do in pre-season and hopefully Rogne doesn't get injured. Its a shame aswell he was gutted when he had to get took of against Dundee Utd.

To be fair Hooiveld has only played one game for us so the jury is still out on him, and the same could be said for Rogne(although he too looks good), so i think if there is a new centre-half coming in then he needs to be in as soon as he can and then allow two defenders to form a decent partnership in pre-season.

The way things are looking we very could well need three centre backs who play well along side each other.

hooiveld has to prove what he is worth first before thinking like a fm game , he has so far seemed a pointless signing ! if he gets crocked again he has to go id say , no time waiting for a player to get fit constantly when we are trying to achive instant success ! harsh but hey ho !

It's silly to write of someone of Sol Campbell's ability because of his age, David Weir doesn't exactly struggle in the spl and he's what, 40 now?

I don't think he'll come if I'm honest. I predict you'll see him at a middle of the road premiership club by the end of the summer.

As for Hooiveld, it baffles me how much he seems to be rated among fans when none of us have really seen him play for any length of time.

High hopes for him though.

Personally i'd like to see us give Campbell a wide berth, move out McManus, Loovens & O'Dea, and attempt to sign any two from the following;

Dorin Goian, Palermo; Khalid Boularouz, Stuggart; Petri Pasanen & Sebastian Prödl, Werder Bremen; Alex Silva, Hamburg; Ivan Ramis, Mallorca

Would have included Jelle Van Damme but he's got to Wolves for £2.5M

What you're overlooking in Hooivelds case is the lunacy of Mowbray to clear out our defence and bring in scandinavian players in January (Hooiveld and Rogne) to fill the void. These two were well into their close season, so it was no real surprise when they both become injured shortly after trying to get going again.

Both these players will need a full pre-season under their belts before they can be assessed.

Mick could learn from Sol, and hopefully show us the best is yet to come.
Hoovield has a ton to prove still, but he looks like he could do a job for us.
Loovens, I wouldnt bother keeping, sad the huns didntbuy him, when we were in a bidding war, biggest mistake we made.
ODea, has to buckle down and get back to business.
Rogne is just a pup like Thompson, but I think if we could get him in the Mjallby molde, then we will have great defenders for the next decade.
