Best fans in the world ?

The World Cup Organising Committee (OC) have hailed England fans as the best in the world following a mainly trouble-free tournament in Germany. There were only a few minor incidents in Gelsenkirchen yesterday - more than 100 drunk English fans were taken into temporary custody after clashing with the police - following England's epic shoot-out defeat to Portugal. Given the 80.000 English fans in Gelsenkirchen, the figure stands relatively small - and OC spokesperson Gerd Graus confirmed the very positive perception of England supporters throughout the whole tournament. 'The English fans said before the tournament they were the world champions as far as celebrating is concerned and they certainly lived up to his billing,' Graus said. 'It was great to see the celebrations of the thousands of fans who poured into the country. They celebrated football in a very unique way. We have to note the minor incidents but all in all they are pretty much negligible.' FIFA spokesperson Markus Siegler offered a word of warning. 'In general English fans - fans - are among the best in the world. We know that not only since this World Cup,' he stated. 'They were great fans. And I emphasise fans - they love football and are no troublemakers.

the sad thing is England will see that figure as a success compared to previous tournaments. How many did we take to Seville with how many arrests, how they can say they are the worlds best fans puzzles me.

 

I didn't hear much about other fans in trouble let alone over 1000.

No other country has to police their own fans in the way the English have to

Ask a German in Gelsenkirchen and they'd tell you exactly what they're like.

Thats just one night. Model Behaviour by English standards not by Celtic standards.

I suppose its an improvement on rioting, ripping up seats in stadiums and throwing them at rival supporters, smashing bottles in German policewomen's face and having the belgian police bringing in the water cannons. Thumbs up England.

Don;t forget that prior to the world cup Police revolked thousands of passports and put prior offenders on a travel ban. So it could have been alot worse, had they not taken those measures.

 

Very good point, add another few hundred to that list for the next outing the knuckle draggers make. Soon be more England fans not allowed to travel than actually do travel. LoL.

 

as someone that has lived in germany and has a number of german mates its not bigotry or racist its "accurate"

all my german mates ive spoken to since the WC have encountered english fans being total * as per usual!!!!!!
