LANDRY N’GUEMO will not be made a permanent signing by Celtic, but the Parkhead club have stepped up their efforts to bring Alfred N’Diaye, the Cameroonian’s team-mate at AS Nancy, to Glasgow.
Celtic have refused to increase their offer of £1.2m for N’Guemo, who spent last season with them on loan, and he now looks likely to be heading for the Barclays Premier League.
Wigan Athletic, Stoke City and Birmingham City have all registered an interest with Nancy and are prepared to pay upwards of £2m for the player. Nicolas Holveck, the French club’s sporting director, said: “We spoke to Celtic at the start of the week regarding N’Guemo and following that discussion I now believe he won’t be joining them next season.
“There is quite a difference in opinion over our valuation of the player and theirs and because there is other interest from England I would expect him to move elsewhere.
“We have been having discussions with English sides regarding Landry for more than a week now, but there is no panic over his sale.”
However, Holveck said that there had been talks with Celtic about N’Diaye, who carries a price tag of £2.5m.
The defensive midfielder, who is 6ft 2ins tall and has been likened in style to Patrick Vieira and Abou Diaby, has shown excellent form for Nancy since breaking into the first team 18 months ago.
He has two years left on his contract, having played at all youth levels for the club, including featuring in the under-20 side which finished third at last month’s prestigious Touloun Tournament.
N’Diaye has also caught the eye of several English clubs. Holveck said there was no possibility of him being allowed to go out on loan. He said: “There have been discussions with Celtic over Alfred N’Diaye and there is an interest there in the player.
“But there will be absolutely no loan deal struck: it’s either a completed transfer or nothing as he is a valuable player. He will also cost them more than Landry N’Guemo as he is only 20 and already a France [youth] international with vast potential.”
    Meanwhile, Georgios
Samaras said playing Greece’s second World Cup group match at the home of Bloemfontein Celtic had felt like a lucky omen.
The Parkhead striker came off the bench during the first half of his country’s 2-1 defeat of Nigeria yesterday, having
been dropped from the starting line-up after the defeat to South Korea.
“That was a good sign with the Celtic connection,” Samaras said. “We have a very good team and I just try to do my best. We deserved to win because we worked really hard.
“They are an African team with a lot of strength with power and pace. We pushed ourselves to the limit. This is a good moment for us.
“We have had some criticism but that is normal as we did not play well against South Korea. But we stayed positive and proved it today.”

He's only 20 and has been capped quite a few times at youth level for France so far. Must be a decent player :)

N'Diaye is a great prospect with huge potential but I also think he's could slot straight into our first team.

Would love it to happen, can't see it though.

Edit: Just read that the price tag is supposedly £2.5m - that's a very fair price considering his potential and what he could go on to be worth.

sounds like the kind of player we need...a holding midfield row. this lets brown get forward more with greater stability and protection at the back. sounds like a good sigind indeed

Very true but we need to get someone a bit better than Brown going forward to compensate and compliment that defensive midfielder.

Big gamble at 20 . 2.5 mill is alot of cash for a club like us , it could work out to be a steal tho.
Steven Nzonzi. perfect example Blackburn got him for next to nothing and look at him looks top class ,

yeah n'zonzi is class,he was a bit less of a risk tho,i think he only cost about 500k,so N'Diaye would be a big risk just like Ki and i hope both work out if we buy him, could see them playing together in the future tbh, watching Ki for South Korea ,it looks like a holding role restricts his attacking ability

Don't think he needs the picture, I'm sure the double post will do just fine.

No need for the insults mate.

im the *,haha good one mate

the thing is i didnt claim to have seen him and that s why i've not judged him yet,and also Sno was anything but a beast and we got him for next to nothing cause feyenoord we're happy to get rid, whereas as N'Daiye is a first team player for a Top flight french team and they've put a decent price on his head cause they dont want to lose him,so im afraid they comparison end at posotion and height mate :87:

as for u ,i've learned that ur judgemental and possibly have a slight anger issue
