Come off it, outside of Larsson and Sutton we've rarely had strikers that put a shift in. Even in the glory days of big money we had Hartson (least mobile striker we've had) and the three amigoes who were more interested in money than anything else.

Other guys like Cammara, Brattback, Berkovic, Tommy Johnson, etc etc

I think people have Larsson and Sutton on the minds, maybe to a lesser extent Bellamy who played half a season. Apart from that it's just rose-tinted rubbish.

Nobodies saying Samaras should be a first-team shoe-in but he has it in his locker to hurt big teams - Moscow being a good example. So why people can't accept him as a squad player at least I'll never know. Pure close minded nonsense.

Agree that he is useful when he wants to be and that he gets a lot of criticism that others wouldn't get (for the same thing). He is potentially a great player and if he stays its last chance saloon for him. I would take 2 million for him though

Can't wait for him to go, he's a big lazy sod who has never thought about anyone but himself. The way he throws his hands up to his hair everytime everything goes wrong annoys be greatly, all I ever wanted to see was him trying for an entire 90 minutes, now it looks as if I will never see this astonishing feat !!!

I think you are way off the mark there, I think he genuinely likes being at Celtic which is pretty astonishing considering the amount of personal abuse he takes.

I'm not saying he should be hero worshiped, however, the personal abuse is not on and says a * of a lot more about the people who dish out the personl abuse than Sami himself.

Yes he's inconsistent and at times very frustrating, he's had some extremely poor games but he's also scored some good and important goals for us.

I really do not care much for inconsistent players and Samaras is as inconsistent as they come. He's not even inconsistent from game to game, he's inconsistent from minute to minute! I'll be glad to see him leave the club if we can sell him. I don't enjoy saying that about a Celtic player but I've had my fill of Samaras and his inconsistent, namby pamby style of play. :bbpd:

Are you seriously suggesting that Samaras offered more to the team than John Hartson? That man was a warrior on the pitch for us..compared to Hartson Samaras is like a powerpuff girl! Even Tommy Johnson had a better work rate than Samaras...and not to mention Keane last season

Samaras has a higher work-rate than John Hartson (had at his peak). I seem to recall a number of years ago, John Hartson got quite a bad press for being immobile with this exactt ype of thread. Fans are so fickle these days.

P.s. Tommy Johnson worked alright, his problem was he was a Championship player at best. Probably had a simialr work-rate to Samaras.

I notice you didn't address the likes of the 3 amigoes, Brattback, Scott McDonald, etc

I'm not arguing that Samaras is better than anyone, just stating the holes in the ludicrous argument that Samaras doesn't work hard simply because he has long hair and a unique running style. The only strikers that we can categorically say has higher work-rate is Larsson and Miller, the rest is just uninformed generalisation.

This is really getting me confused..just where is this fantastic work rate from Samaras coming from? For the record Hartson did everything a STRIKER is supposed to do...score goals, put your head in where it hurts, teamplayer etc. Just because Samaras is more mobile or faster than John, doesn't mean that he works harder than him.

Tommy Johnson was alright for us yeah but if he was a championship player he wouldn't have done as well for us as he did...he was always well liked for his work-rate(unlike Sammy)so no problem there.

If i felt the need to address the "three amigos", i would have!

Finally, one thing that i can agree with you on.the ludicrous argument that Samaras doesn't work hard simply because he has long hair and a unique running style...this is not a valid argument im afraid, but it is not the majority view of supporters.

The only strikers that we can categorically say has higher work-rate is Larsson and Miller, the rest is just uninformed generalisation.[/QUOTE]

Erm....Keane,Bellamy,Sutton,Hartson to name but a few

Could'nt agree more, some of the abuse pelted at him at games is disgraceful :38: no need for it, he has scored important goals for us.

Firstly Sammy is not in the same league as BBJ and he is also very inconsistant. Ill back up that his treatment is unfair and he can be good on his day but that's as far as ill go. Now i really dont remember BBJ getting any abuse from anyone but i do remember Heid was hated, then loved, then hated again. Regarding Sammy though can you not understand why some fans are frustrated with him?

I've already said that - it was somebody saying Sammy has no work-rate and then rattled on about the strikers we've had in the past when in actual fact the only strikers who we can categorically say have better work-rate is Larsson and kenny Miller.

People will pick and choose any reason to dislike Samaras when the only genuine reasons are he has an annoying tendency to come deep, and can dissapear from some games.

It shouldn't be a blank sheet to level any abuse at Samaras just because he's Samaras.

If you think Hartson had a better work-rate then I think you better remove those rose tinted glasses.

To put it into perspective at the half way point last season when Samaras was playing up front (where he's meant to be played rather than this bizarre fascination of putting him on the left wing) he had a better strike rate than McDonald and Fortune.
