i have mixed feelings on this; on the one hand i'm in america this summer working near Boston so this would be terrific; on the other hand i can understand why somw would object to us once again being lumped in with the "old firm" tag, though tbh i dont think its a tag we can ever truely get rid of

There are a number of aspects regarding a potential game in Boston. The first being $$$$$$$$$$. Finanacially I am sure it would benefit Celtic. Regardless of what people say, money makes the world go round and it makes cents :)54:) . Then you have the travel. The team are out that direction anyway for so it's not as if it is a 1 off game for the * of it. As a fan who lived in the US for a while, the lack of football would drive you crazy. The ex-pats out there will have a chance to see their beloved hoops. The mention of trouble is a bit far fetched. Yes there is a huge rivalry, but I don't know if violence would be on the agenda for those attending. Surely all the troublemakers and knuckle draggers cannot afford the travel costs? Not sure how the Boston police would manage this type of game. American sports have rivalries but I don't think violence or trouble is a part of it. I am for this, basically to let the ex-pats get a chance to see Celtic.

Shocking, how low will our board go, seriously, these type of game isnt for entertaining potential shirt buyers, thats what games like us v man utd etc are for in pre season tournys, different story if for example we were to meet in the final of something like that emoirates cup mentioned last year

If that's the case then we should go over to America on our own and play the top MLS teams and some other European teams that are touring in America. Why should we give them a share of our spoils?

this may be the only celtic-rangers game i'll ever see. Celtic is one of the more supported clubs over here (aside from the obvious super-clubs whose silly money gets them support)

The stadium is in Foxboro which as an hour away from Boston, so we won't have riotous huns spilling out into the streets of our fair city most likely.

I mentioned this to my husband, who has been a bit baffled by my love for the Hoops, but first thing he said was, 'if they come here, then we're all going.' I'll make a bhoy of him yet! :50:

four leaf clover, just cant get enough.
I don't get to see the Hoops in person very often at all. This would be a 13 hour drive for me, but one I would gladly do. Most likely make the trip to Toronto as well.

I dont mind this idea, it will give all the fans across the water a chance to see the bhoys

1/ it is a money spiner
2/the spl is in a state and both clubs could do with the revenue
3/ after spending 14 years away from the uk, if they came to south africa when i was there this would have been a sell out

this would have been a great gig if we only played the unwashed twice a year
as its 4 and plus 1 maybe 2 now you could be put off living in the uk

It doesnt mater if we make money and it doesn't matter if it will give genuine fans in the states the chance to watch a game like this. This is wrong and i think our board should be sacked if they give this serious thought.

This is on par with Judas taking the 30 pieces of silver. A complete sham. Moral prostitution. Disgusting.

thats exactly what it is. bad enough we're gonna have that redfuckingT on our shirts. i thought we wanted to distance ourselves from Scotlands Shame. we had the chance to squash them once and for all. and we blew it. we can get our own sponsors, instead the huns get to 'share' our gains. for entertainment at half time in boston, what'll they have for entertainment? Re-enactment of cup final pitch invasion?? And to all those 'contemplating' the trip across the pond, where were yous on saturday? oh i forgot, we're not fans, we're consumers. Celtic's a product to be consumed only when favourable. At least the weather over there will be as fair as the mindset. hail hail

I think this would be a great Idea, Americans here love the Idea of sports rivalries and the biggest one here is in Baseball between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees and both of those teams make millions off it, for Celtic this could really open the door for alot more investment

You make it sound as if they don't make money off friendlies anyway. Who did they play last pre-season? Arsenal, Man City, and PSG to name a few. If they were always playing the Nuremburgs and Portsmouths of the world than I would agree with you, however I don't think us not playing them in a friendly will change their financial situation all that much.

On a side note, my wife and I would definitely make the trip even though it is a 14.5 hr drive. We have gone up in the past to see the Red Sox play :50:
