Reid: We’ll fight back

Celtic chairman John Reid has issued a rallying cry to the club’s fans and insisted everything will be done this summer to restore the SPL title to Parkhead.

“I thank the Celtic fans for their support and I give you my assurance that we do not take that support lightly,” said Reid.

“We cherish it, and it is for you that we aim to reinstate this club to its pre-eminent position in Scottish football as quickly as possible.

“We respect the loyalty you have shown to us and we will do everything in our power to repay that. You have shown that it is not merely a slogan to say that as supporters of Celtic are we are faithful through and through. From the top down we will do all again to bring the success that this great club of ours ought to have.”

Success on the park = fans come back = best thing for him.

All that lot have to do this summer is get the managerial appointment right and back him 100% in the transfer market. Personally, I like to think we've seen a bit more bit in the board since January.

 

I have my doubts.

They will be hoping to sell McGeady this summer to help fund next season.

 

Sounds a bit more promising than previous years. I really think the board need to spend serious money in the summer, to ensure they can sell the season tickets, if they drop 10,000 supporters from there season ticket list that will cost them at least 9 million quid, surely its time the board speculated to accumulate! Much as we should have after the end of the 2003 season!

C'mon Dermott the supporters put there percentage in to back the team, surely its about time your lot put your hands in your pockets and backed the team!

We need to see the next manager backed with cash, without selling our best players, or else it's just a downward spiral. Of course we can sell players to fund transfers, we shouldn't let our few quality players leave though.

the new manager will be lennon defo because if they have to splash the cash then they need a the cheapst manager desmond wont put much on the table as usual because we wont make him much profit

money = players = good team = win's = great fans = cups = league titles = europe = MORE MONEY Are they missing the * point

Great fans aren't those that just support the team when things are going well but that's for another thread.

As for Reids comments nothing new, season ticket renewals will be out soon so that's his sales pitch.

All we have to do is make sure we make the right managerial appointment.

i agree what with your saying but its the same thing espect this and espect that and it never happens every single season i think we all know lennon will keep the job after backing the board with charley nic's coments, i personaly would give it to lennon he knows what is needed n he will get it one way or the other

i think celtic should look for a new investore to team up with desmond

He's a politician. He's used to saying what people want to hear but actions speak louder than words. A half decent transfer kitty for the manager in the summer will prove it.
