Tony Mowbray is reportedly battling with Celtic over money he is owed following his sacking as manager last month. Mowbray, who didn’t complete a full year of his five-year contract, is said to be due £900,000 from the club under a clause in his deal.
Celtic would neither confirm nor deny reports that there were any outstanding issues regarding Mowbray's contract when contacted by STV Sport on Wednesday afternoon.
Mowbray, together with his management team of Mark Venus and Peter Grant, were removed from power at Celtic Park on March 25 following an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at the hands of St Mirren.
That result was Celtic’s heaviest non-Old Firm domestic defeat since a 5-1 loss to Dundee in 1980 and promoted the Hoops board to replace Mowbray with reserve team coach Neil Lennon until the end of the season.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, the English League Managers’ Association are fighting Mowbray’s case with Celtic, with no indication of a settlement coming from the SPL club.
The LMA’s chief executive, Richard Bevan, confirmed to the paper that his organisation were representing the former West Bromwich Albion and Hibernian manager as the three week mark of his sacking approaches.
“We are acting on behalf of Tony Mowbray and Peter Grant on this issue and are dealing with Celtic,” Bevan told the Daily Mail.
“In around 80 per cent of cases, settlements are reached for members of coaching staff within two to three weeks.”

I think it's fair to say that Mowbray wont be welcomed back to parkhead should he ever rear his ugly head at any point :47:

What a *, brought in a load of * (mainly), sold the wrong players (in my opinion) and he still wants to sink the club lower, he is a complete joke he should just leave quietly with what dignity he has left.

never moved his family up here so it didn't look like he planned to stay maybe happy to go when he realised he wasn't up to the job. should be looking to sue him for not delivering the results and giving us the football he promised.

Definately.. I think the way it ended was that he was told to resign or be sacked.. Either way his job was ending the following day.. He might have had gripes with the board or was due money by not resigning , but it doesn't show any respect from him towards the fans or the club.. Maybe that was the last thing on his mind and maybe we expect too much from people we consider to be Celtic people.. When it was clear that his time was up I'd have liked him to have walked away from the job , admitted his failings and apologised for them , and then if he had any reasons to go public on why the managers job at Celtic wasn't all it was advertised as , then I'd have liked him to let the fans know about any broken promises that were made to him or if he was close to resigning on occasions (as was reported) , and who was calling the shots on players because telling the fans exactly how it is would at least put us in the picture of what goes on , and maybe would have been the kick up the erse the board need so when they appoint the next guy everyone is pulling in the same direction from day one to the last.. Mowbray doesn't deserve a pay-off but if he's entitled to it there's not much that can be done..

most managers wont resign because if they are sacked they will get a pay off which wont be forthcoming if they resign, mourinho said as much when he was at chelsea ,they will only resign if they have another job to walk into.

Standard stuff in a managers contract mate.

The guy is out of work and is protecting his own livelihood.

We'd all do the same in the same position.

    Contracts work both ways.

I'm shocked at the fact that he was given a straight unconditional 5 year deal when the previous manager only got a 1 year rolling contract for 4 years.

he's taking the money he's entitled to. Maybe he feels aggrieved at being sacked or at the board/lawwell over players etc. Anyway Celtic would be the first to moan if they were owed money. The man has 2 young children to look after and, whilst not struggling for money at the moment, it could be his last job in football or for many years and therefore no source of income.

Anyone notice how the press were going on about the board not trusting him by giving him a 1-year rolling contract when he was appointed yet now he's gone its changed to a 5-year deal - rubbish. It can't be both and considering Celtic have given rolling to the 2 previous managers im sure mowbray was the same
