Have not saw a great deal of Fortune but it is no shame to have not made it at Man Utd, we have few players who would get a run un their team. He has played LB, LM and CM in recent years for them, i think for free he'd represent a decent signing.

y do you say this...u obviously dont have a clue every1 of use.how can u say hes not celtic class if hes a south african international and has played alot of games for man utd.what is celtic class, paul telfer cause hes much better than him.
Honestly, use no nothing...use probs think Kadlec is outstanding because hes been linked for money when hes only played a hatful of games for Sparta Prague and not even in the Czech squad.....
Have u even ever watched him played, hes not a great player but he is CELTIC CLASS as he would be our best defender no doubt and is versatile.

"Celtic seem to be at last learning how to operate in todays cut-throat transfer market. After years of last minute bungled attempts at signing leftovers we have at last become transfer savvy and the new transfer target of Quinton fortune proves this. Celtic are using their interest in Quinton Fortune to help secure the transfer of Czech star Kadlec whose deal has stalled due to Kadlec's agent holding out for a better deal. The introduction of Fortune into the equation will alert Kadlec and his advisors that Celtic are serious about getting a player who can take Kadlec's role and to force the Czech to make a decision. Celtic are virtually on a no lose situation as many Celtic fans see Fortune as a good addition to the squad and it seems that the former Manchester United player has been put into the frame by none other than Roy Keane."

I wonder what do you think about this?

Szu war lol I never thought of it like that. Perhaps it is a smart move by Celtic. When many people say he is not Celtic class I think they are referring to how we used to be in a position to sign "stars" like Hartson, Sutton etc for large fee's. Nowadays we are forced to scrounge around but it would be fair to say struggling to make an impact on the Man U reserves equates to not Celtic class.

Yes Telfer is not Celtic class but Strachan has a pénchant for that guy. Furthermore I thought Camara was bought as a stopgap who again is not Celtic class. The general consensus coming from the media and fans alike is that Kadlec IS Celtic quality so I do hope we get him.

When you are saying that he doesn't feature for the reserves, that does not mean he isn't good enough to play for the reserves. We have players like Thommo and Camara who don't play regularly for either first or reserve teams due to the managers preferance to play youth in the reserves. I have no doubt that Fortune would be of a higher quality than those players signed so far ( Caldwell, Riordan and Miller )

That phrase "Celtic Class" does my nut in. When I think of some of the players that have worn the Hoops over the last 20 years "Celtic Class" aint that high

So where exactly would Fortune fit?
LB=we have Mulgrew+poss Kadlec then Camara/Wallace(both not good enuff!)
LM we have Shaun+Naka (and Thompson and Pearson), CM =lennon, keane petrov,
and any combination of them in the 3 places Fortune could play. I think this is a poor target if its true and we should b concentrating on better quality.

Fortune on a bosmon would be a decent signing. He is very experieced, versatile and I can always remember an interview in which Keane said he always kicked Fortune for 5 a sides at Man Utd because he always got stuck in. He has many caps for South Africa at International level (although BTG could do the same apparantly) and he has many good attributes.

My major concern with is him is that he is very injury prone and the last thing we need is someone picking up a decent wage while sitting on his backside. However, we would certainly have a stronger squad with Fortune in it.

Petrov is leaving and i think the fact we're speaking to Fortune tells us that Lennon will not accept new terms for another year (he shouldn't have been offered a new deal anyway). Keane has also to make his mind up about staying or retiring. We haven't signed Fortune, we've talked to him. I know forward planning in the transfer market is something we're not used to at CP but we need replacements in place ready to sign if the 9 or 10 players who could potentially leave do so. Fortune, when fit, is a good solid holding midfielder who could replace Lennon in the squad, he's versatile and is a 29 year old international who is on a Bosman. Maybe we can't afford 'top quality' whatever that is, or maybe the manager thinks Fortune is top quality.
