I'm still lost on how some people think the IRA are anything to do with Celtic. You bring up the catholic point to back that up...I'm a protestant, I support Celtic. The majority of catholics may support Celtic and vice versa but it's not all the same. The millions of Celtic fans aren't all catholic. Share your religious views at a political venue, not at a football match.

Religion is not an issue with the IRA, indeed Wolfetone amongst others were protestant. It is not a religious issue but a political one, something the majority on both sides don't realise. The forum for such things is not a football ground, indeed those that matter in the struggle ( on either side ) you can be sure do not use this method. Without sounding flippant the fact is the Irish situation is of no importance to the people who sing the songs, its only the easiest method to antagonise..

    Point 1
You're saying we should stop singing political songs because they are "sectarian" but you just used the term "hun" that's sectarian.
    Point 2
Paolo Di Canio gave fascist salutes in serie A and got a 3000 pound fine. Pennies for a footballer yet UEFA are talking about relegating us if we sing legitimate political songs criticising a government who stole land from the irish AND scottish people, enforce their rule upon them and murder the citizens of Ireland and Scotland for any reason they can dream up.

Next season Uefa will probably relegate Lazio and others if they do fascist salutes or signs as well, its not just at Sectarianism.
    ----------------------------------
This is because one man in Scotland complained about it through letter, Uefa need to take something up if they get a complaint and this one guy is the cause of this farce, Scottish football was a much Noiser place a few years ago, and we wont get that back again imo if Uefa follows through with these threats.

Point 1 - Where did I say that political songs where sectarian? The term hun is not sectarian, if anything it's racist, which is probably worse. My whole point is that these songs whether they be political or sectarian have no place at Celtic Park because they have nothing to do with Celtic.
Point 2 - FIFA are not targeting Scotland or Ireland. The whole of Europe will be subjected to these rule changes.

Exactly Jonny. How many times have we saw disgraceful scens in Turkey with Galatasary. The fans, the police all intimidating and causing harm to the opposition. Stick and stones...

Both should be eradicated but violence is far worse than a few songs without a shadow of a doubt.

lets face the facts: there would be a massive cut with only 4-5 teams left in the champs league

Huge racist problems in the eastern part of europe (ex-udssr countries), spain, italy, germany, england etc

on the other hand, racism is not a football problem, its a general society, worldwide problem. football cant not change your (political) attitude. we need to eradicate the problem at the root of it. those racist in the stadiums are just the head of the problem, removing just them would be a never ending scenario, because the roots produce them again and again.

Dont get me wrong, of course racism has no place at football grounds, but the UEFA (FIFA)'s way is an act of hasty punishment

Get a life, it's ancient history. The English did far worse things to the Scottish people over the past 2000 years but you never hear a William Wallace song at Parkhead. It's just an excuse for hatred, times are very different now.
I for one f@cking hate the IRA as I live in London and they've bombed here many a time. They didn't give a * who they killed. It's embarrassing to hear Celtic fans singing IRA songs, especially since we were founded long before the IRA was. It's nothing to do with us.
