We should have signed James McCarthy instead.

Celtic wouldnt part with the extra £200,000 up front that Hamilton wanted at the time ..Was chatting to him after a Wigan reserve game at the end of last year , he wanted to come ...

That's a * shame that, considering we're snapping up, what our scouts and board believe to be, the next best, young stars across Europe, we could have had a fine, young player who has proven he can do well in the SPL let slip through our fingers all for 200,000 quid. :38:

Yep he was quite open and honest about the whole thing ..Accies wanted £1.2m up front but Celtic offered £1m with add ons totalling £1.2m .

Anyway this paul Slane guy , do people think he should be in the squad now or is he one for a season or twos time

We should tap McCarthy up, let him run down his contract at Wigan and sign him on a bosman. He will be then be 22 or 23 and we wont have to develop him ourselves. I cannot stress the importance of signing die hard celts. (and keeping them at the club)

is it not a waste to have such a talented young lad playing reserve football everyweek>? should we not loan him out till hes in a position to play 1st team or be on the bench with a chance of coming on

Might be good for him to have a season to settle then look for a 6 month loan like they did with O'Dea.. The bounce games they are playing are apparently quite competitive.. The Blackburn team they beat recently had a number of players with Premiership experience but Im not sure how often they play against that quality..

I think it was crazy leaving 1st team football for playing the odd reserve game with celtic but i supose i would be difficult to turn down training with your hero's everday.
