Great insightful post, my biggest fear is that Glasgow Celtic never again compete for a place under Mowbray , he seems out of his depth in the SPL, nevermind greater, and the wonderful days of supporting the 'tic in the echelons of Europe will never ever return!

    Welcome to the forum firstly.

Hmmm i don't know if we will compete the way we have done previously, however we will have a bigger picture of things at the end of next season.

It is yet an unknown if these new signings are scaffolding signings until we get better opportunities in the summer and what not,so still too early to say if we can remain competitive.

This is Celtic though and i would like to think we can remain passionate and competitive. We'll see.

The biggest priority is to get back to our SPL wining ways. Champions League will naturally follow.

Have we still got 2 entries next season with 1 straight in and 1 playing qualifying rounds?

Let's focus on catching the Huns first and worry about our chances in the cL if it happens, we will get better as the team gels together.

for some reason, i think this team is more suited to European football anyway, or the team that Mowbray is looking at. So it wouldnt suprise me if the football was better to watch on European nights.

Agree, Donati (a player who liked to pass the ball) was better in the CL where teams let you play.

He won the ball at the front post for Mick's goal v Milan, scored the winner v Shakhtar and was one of our better players v Arsenal

We are going to get stuffed in europe.. ...we cant beat falkirk for * sake.....
I dont see celtic getting to the group stages for a few years unless we get very very lucky, there are to many teams in up and coming leagues spending way more money than we can.

You dont have to look at where we are in the league just now to know its going to be very very hard in europe for us from now on.
The top teams in russia are spending more on one player than we spend on half our signings each window. Then before we even get to the group stages we have to face teams like arsenal/liverpool.....
Its not about where we are in our league or where we finish at the end of the season, its about who we will face in europe and what they spend and what quality they buy......mate:rolleyes:

I would say the russians are about to become a major force in europe, they are not there just yet.
Are we *......maybe....maybe not but we have always found it hard in europe....now we are losing to all these PUB TEAMS.
The problem is the fans call them pub teams but some of them are out spending us as well.....i said a while back we might be out of the cl for the next 5 years.....but i hope i'm wrong.

I believe if we do get to the champs league group stages next year we still won't do anything. The way we play means we will get slaughtered. Playing open football against better teams with better players than us is a death wish. I think we need something more to our game. Under MON we had lots of height strength and pace. Footballing sides found us hard to break down. That was why our home record was so good.
