sorry guys but all i have is praise for the board and tony mowbray in the last week or two , we have went out , spend 4 million on 3 players , 2 million on ki , 2 million on hooiveld and rogne for free , and it looks like more will be coming in . Well done to the board for getting their hand in their very deep pockets and avoiding something like last january.
Well done tony mowbray on recognising that the cb's are * and bringing in 2 so far and possibly another one.

Well done celtic:50:

I'm not going to thank the board for getting us in this state in the first place. They have been ripping the * out of us for a good 5 years now.

This season we have had to sell in order to buy yet they tell us we are almost debt free.

Got to agree mate the original plan to get the wages down and debt down was a good vision for the club just need to look a rangers who chose to ignore this in terms of off the park.
But i feel somewhere along the way that vision became blinding to the board and they became over obsessed with this e.g last season summer and january. Then lawell made a hypocrit of himself, as i quote " We aim to leave each transfer window stronger than we come into it" Lawell February 2008.
But the thing Mr Lawell forgot was the league was not in the bag yet and a total dip in form due to having only one fit striker in mcdonald and two donkeys in JVOH and Sammy. We lost the league and with the new champions league format totally lost the chance to get into the champions league and cost the club a guarenteed 8-10 million and big european nights. This is going to happen again if we dont turn it on over next few weeks.

Im glad to see players coming in as we need them and to be fair for all the doubters its easy to blame the board but in january the teams going for honours dont want to sell so it must be harder to get players in because its ok people saying oh get this one or that but they have to want to come and their club has to want to deal and then we have to see if we can afford them so we need to get real and im sure if they can get more in they will

The problem being we've signed 3 players costing £4m in total when, in reality, what we need is 3 players costing £4m each!

Cost isn't the be all and end all, as long as they can play and improve the team doesn't matter how much they cost.

The board adopted the correct strategy to reduce our wage bill and debt, however, they took it too far imo.

They've started to correct the wrongs of last season, but haven't went far enough yet imo.

It remains to be seen how successful the new signings will be, hopefully very, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Aye, shocking behaviour from the board!

I expect you're always dipping into your pocket to finance the company you work for. Me too! :56:

Next thing we'll discover the board actually get PAID for doing their jobs. :eek1:

they never seem to miss there free diners, and trips abroad, complementary tickets,
extra shares, warm seats, free admission, and there contributions are all in paper form only. guarantors thats all, 60,000 Celtic fans with shares worth nothing, don't even qualify for a free pie lol

(On 11 January 2010, Celtic announced that Hooiveld had signed a three and a half year deal with the club with the fee believed to be around £1,400,000. Jos was given the number 16 shirt which was vacated by Willo Flood after his transfer to Middlesbrough )

I can't see how some Dutch lad who played in The Swedish league can be any better that the players in the SPL, nor are we now saying that the Swedish league is now better than ours.
We bought 2 centre defenders in the 90’s in Stubbs & Mjallby, from AIK, for more than we are spending now and that has to be down to the board TBH.

I am all for looking for bargains and a decade ago I think we would be thinking the best of a player when they signed. Today though, there is a sense of negativity the minute we here we spent 2 mil on an unfamiliar name.

I seriously think if we spent between 6 & 10 mil on an experienced CB (a la captain) the whole team would benefit from it.

But hey, that my opinion.

Our board are still looking for the cheap options all the time, nothing wrong with that if your scouts can uncover the new Larsson, Lubo or Balde for under a £1 mil, but I doubt it.

We need to be realistic and accept that the board and especially Dermot Desmond won't sanction £6 million transfers ever again, however it doesn't stop them expecting top Dollar for Season Tickets and CL tickets.

They're always saying that the Celtic supporters should be more realistic, well so should they when they setting their prices and consider the product we're watching on the park, get a reality check Lawwell and Desmond.

For better or worse, fyp. It's just a different economic climate nowadays I think. A guy like Sutton, who was an expensive signing for us even at the time, would be priced at some ridiculous number like 10-15m.

I'll refrain from judgement until after the window has closed & the league is in it's final stages.
