Tennents new sponsors of Celtic?

Happy with the amount, but it's very shortsighted to get into bed with the huns once again. My personal opinion is that we should've taken the hit short term and gone on our own and reap the benefits in later years when people no longer assume that Celtic must go hand in hand with Rangers and no longer see one side as bad as the other.

Celtic fan's behaviour in Seville helped get us noticed (and sponsored by Nike and others) all over the world as fun loving, friendly supporters of a team we all love. The huns behaviour has them known as animals and they get treated accordingly.

Associating ourselves with them harms the club. The very use of the phrase 'old firm' is damaging.

I long for the day where John Reid comes out and says we want * all to do with them and if they want someone to sponsor them they can do it without hanging onto our coat tails.

Just to say folks, this is still to be officially confirmed. . . Just going by what has been reported, which makes sense as far as I can tell.

 

Why the * do we have to have a joint deal ? You're not telling me we can't get a decent sponsorship deal on our own ! Sick of the "Old Firm " *, sick of being mentioned in the same sentences as those knuckle dragging, inbred mutants ! We don't need them , they need us. * them !

 

Not wanting a big red 'T' on my Celtic top. What does this mean for the bumblebee? Will I able to get mine re-printed?

If Magners are the owners of Tennents, then it means the Huns will be sponsored by an Irish company, owned by an English bank, oh so much for Rule Britania, aye right !!!

If this is true I must say I would be very unhappy with any joint sponsorship deal. We need to go it alone and ditch any association with those scum. I just cannot believe that Celtic today as a world wide name would not be a very attractive option for some big multi national company.

Is it not possible (or even likely) that we will get Magners on the front of our strip and they'll get Tennents, or Budweiser? If they're all owned by the same company, no-one will be out of pocket and it'll appeal to the fanbase of the respected teams.

Like a number of others I strongly oppose the continuing trend of sharing sponsorship with 'that other team'. Every time they disgrace Scottish football, in some circles we get tarnished for with the same brush. To many outside observers, it isnt the impeccible and good spirited behaviour of the Hoops faithful in Seville that comes to mind, rather their thuggery & destruction in Manchester.

We should do everything in our power to distance ourselves from them. The board must see that we, as Celtic supporters, dont want to be identified with that lot, nor do we want to be suffer guilt by association with that lot. It is purely circumstance that we share the same city... and that is the ONLY thing we share. We certainly do not need to share a sponsor.

As for those who argue the case of a sponsor not wanting to alienate 1/2 of Glasgow by sponsoring a particular team, why is this principle not an issue in Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham or any other city that has multiple football teams based there? Its a non-issue.

I'm also opposed to beer sponsorship on our kits. Its not that Carling or Tennants are a bad product (there is no arguing there - they are both absolute crap), its that its unsuitable and indeed, irresponsible. There is nothing more sad than seeing babes and little kids running around, being used as billboards to advertise beer.

That's partly why I got mine without the sponsor,......that and the fact it looks *.
