    GIROUD WILL NOT JOIN CELTIC
Tours striker Olivier Giroud admits he has given up on the idea of joining Celtic although he will definitely be leaving the Ligue 2 club at the end of the season.
Celtic have been in negotiations with Tours to secure the services of their star forward, who has been in superb form this season.
Giroud has revealed he is close to securing a deal with a top-level club but insists he will now not be moving to Celtic.
"I've put a cross through them," he said in a press conference organised by Tours to announce his decision to remain with them until June.
"I'm staying on board. I will announce my future destination for next season in about a fortnight.
"There are still several details to sort out but I don't want to give you the name of the club, simply that they are at the top level in Europe.
    "It's the right choice."
Giroud has struck 16 times in 21 games this season, a record which has attracted several clubs.
Middlesbrough, Paris St Germain and Monaco are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old, who hopes his next club will offer him a springboard into the Premier League.
Giroud added: "I wanted to go there (to Celtic) because they are a big club, who play in Europe, with a fantastic spirit.
"It was a good trampoline from which to move to England and the Premier League, which is my dream.
    "Fortunately there are other trampolines."

It will be a financial decision. I hope we have been aware of this for a while so we will be in advanced talks with other strikers. Oh and i hope he does pish wherever he goes.

I couldn't fathom why so many people were speaking as if this was a done deal AND a good one at that. I've never seen him play and I've not heard 1 thing from Celtic, the media drove the entire thing fuelled by a couple of quoted remarks from him and his agent about us being interested.

Haven't got a clue who he is but his goal record was never awe-inspiring.

One thing I'm thinking I'm starting to get from some of these deals failing is that our board are driving a TOUGH bargain.

not to bothered, i particulary didnt like him saying that he saw Celtic as "a trampoline"; we dont need players who already have one eye on the EPL

Nothing wrong with ambition or using Celtic as a trampoline but its the last line that stings a little.

"It was a good trampoline from which to move to England and the Premier League, which is my dream.
    "Fortunately there are other trampolines."

If we sign any player who wants to go on to the epl for example thats fine as long as we make a nice profit because lets be honest the reasons for signing the younger players is to cash in big time in the future . I took from what he said that it was killed on celtics side as he said he wanted to come but wouldnt have the chance now so maybe down to the fact he wanted to wait til the summer
