For me, it's more the standard of the atmosphere than the standard of the football. Celtic Park is just a morose and depressing place to be for me. I really don't see the point in going to a game just to sit in silence. I can do that at home so why even bother?

When I actually enjoy being at Celtic Park again, then I'll consider showing up for these games. Until then, I'll only be going to the "big games". And I'm sure you'll criticise me for that, but I'm 20 years old, I've probably been to a couple hundred Celtic games but I've never been to an Old Firm match. I paid 150 pounds for a five-match package knowing full well I was only going to use it for the Rangers game. Can you blame me? I've been to enough fixtures in the freezing cold against the likes of Hamilton, thank you very much. And I don't really fancy making a two-hour trek every second weekend to go to a place I don't enjoy being at in the first place.

I have a totally different outlook, but each to their own.

I went to the games all through the 90's when we literally won nothing for years from the despair of losing to Raith to the euphoria of beating Airdrie (yip that's right it was euphoric to beat Airdrie)

I agree about the atmosphere being poor, but the only way to get it to improve is to get people that want to make noise to make noise, that can't happen if they are all sitting at home because they can't be bothered.

^ It has nothing to do with the opposition or the result. If Celtic were in the Third Division, I'd go to every game. Celtic Park depresses me and I don't like being there. It's really as simple as that. If you don't enjoy being somewhere, why even go?

It's not that I can't be bothered. I was bothered enough to still show up for most home games over the last few years despite the atmosphere getting progressively worse. But I've given up hope now. I can't see the atmosphere improving anytime soon so I don't really see the point in going anymore.

I went yesterday, and while I was there all I wanted was the game to finish so I could get home. The game was * horrendous and the weather was murder. As I said in another thread it was probably the most unenjoyable days i've spent at Celtic Park. Infact I probably wouldn't have went in the first place if it was up to me, but my old man wanted to go so...

Going to watch a match against Hamilton, when you know it's going to be absolutely *, in those temperatures is extremely off putting. I can totally understand why fans decided to stay away. It doesn't make them any less of a fan or any of that stuff, it's just the way it is. Nothing is really making the fans go anymore. It's not entertaining at all.

What I don't understand is if you dislike going to Parkhead so much then why pay 150 quid to get to the OF game?

I know you said you've never been to an OF game before but why do you want to go if Celtic Park depresses you? The last few OF games the atmosphere hasn't exactly been brilliant either, same with the last few European games (CL and Europa League)

I'm not criticising you for your choice, it's your money and you can do with it as you please, I just don't understand your reasoning - you don't see the point in going anymore and you find it depressing yet you pay so much money because presumably you see the point of going to the OF

in the last 2 years or that aswell people that go to the pub before games end up just staying there and watching it and no bother going to the match since most pubs get the home games now. probably somethin to do with the attendances now anaw

I used to treat going to parkhead like a party regardless of who we played ,,its what you make of it yourself, if your spending that amount of money every week ill be damned if i didnt enjoy myself.

i dont enjoy myself tbh but i still go to most games, yesterday i turned up late and left early and missed the two goals :52: if were not winning 3-0 and 4-0 at home then the games arent that exciting. the only time its ever a good atmosphere is if the other team score first or equalise and put a bit of pressure on us

Exactly, I don't care where I sit, there's usually at least 2 or 3 of us from the supporters club together and we have a laugh and a sing song every game - even if sometimes we're the only ones in the section singing, they don't care because most of the time they're drunk and I don't care because I'm just glad to be at Parkhead after having to give it up for 4 years when I moved to Ireland at first.

It is very hard to make it 'party' like these days. Going to Parkhead is no fun anymore.

I sing most games but I find it very hard to enjoy myself watching Celtic get beat, or even watch them just play bad.

maybe i'm just a bad looser though lol

It's not Celtic Park itself that depresses me. I love being there when I don't feel restrained or unable to support my team. It's the atmosphere inside the place and in the section I sit in, specifically in the "lesser" league matches.

Although the atmosphere in Europe is declining (obviously I can't speak on the atmosphere at Old Firm games) it's still significantly better than most league games. There will usually be 10 or 20 people around me who are vocal. I don't feel self-concious and I can sing whenever I want. At league matches it's different. Maybe a few people will join in early in the game, but 20 minutes in I'll always be the only person left singing and at that point I just give up.

I think you would understand my reasoning if you'd never been to an O.F. match. I've been trying desperately to get a ticket for years and I've kind of built it up in my head as this massive "to do". Which is probably why I paid such a ridiculous price to finally get a ticket. But if it does disappoint me, so be it. At least I finally got to go to one.
