McGeady is one of our most skillful players. He has quick feet, as evidence his goal in the eleventh minute against Kilmarnock. We played well that day, the shape of the team looked quite good, and this leads me to my point.McGeady played on the right that day and that is his best position imo.
Mowbray knows better than me, he see's him in training, but we have so many wingers that maybe he can't see the wood for the trees.

I didn't see the first half against Dundee Utd. ,when apparently McGeady set up 2 chances, but 2nd half he was all over the place.I hate it when he starts those diagonal runs across midfield, he just confuses his teammates & the team looks disjointed.

I'd be interested to know what people think, some of you may think he should be in midfield just behind the strikers.

I think he is best on the right side of midfield just because Maloney is better on the left! I don't think he would be that great behind the strikers tbh, don't think he has the intelligence to lift his head and play the right pass at times! Also, he isn't that great at shooting!

Prob on the right wing since he's fast and can take it past some players
his shooting is pish so i would't play him behind the strikers

I'd like to see him given a bit of a licence to roam.

Out on the wings, he relies on other people to get the ball to him. If he was allowed to drift he would be picking up the ball in different areas, making him harder to predict and harder to mark.

I think he's equally effective on either wing. In fact where he plays should depend on who else we have available (McGinn for the right, Maloney/McCourt for the left). He is tantalisingly close to being a brilliant second striker like Robinho or something, but his shooting is absolutely appalling. His crossing isn't great either, so so frustrating!

In my opinion I would also give such a talent licence to roam, it does however mean that the rest of team must be disciplined and play within their respective areas of the pitch. The problem a roaming player gives opposition is that they really don't know which area he will attack from, I think the element of surprise would suit Celtic, especially within the SPL when we play each other so many times, less chance of teams being able to double up on Mc Geady.

The midfield would be Brown, Grosas and Robson, Mac Donald and Zhi up front, forget Samaras and Fortune, they neither possess the hunger or penalty box play to keep up with the rest of the team.

Talented dribbler, * football brain. Personally if we played a player in the hole I would have given it to Maloney or Naka before he left. That position is for players with football brains who can spot passes, spot runs and also shoot. Aidan is basically all dribbling and not much else so I think he should stay on the wing. Maloney or McCourt would be better it the hole than Aidan.

His dribbling ability is really good but in other key facets of the game he's actually pretty average. His shooting is awful, his crossing isn't great and his passing isn't anything to write home about either. For a winger/creative midfielder these are pretty major drawbacks to have. I don't think Aiden will ever be the player some people believe he will.

As for his best position....hmmmmm....I'd say possibly behind the strikers. If he's going to play on the wing then it has to be the right wing for me. I don't like him being on the left wing.

Definitely wing. Both wings actually. Aiden is quick and skillful, his dribbles can drive the defenders mad. However, not the guy for the place behind the strikers. Aiden is a winger. The same way Ribery is.

through the middle and heres why...

    1. center mids are easier to beat than full backs
    2. aiden's crossing isnt tht great
    3. aiden's through balls are far better
    4. to have him on the ball alot more

in this position aiden just needs to beat one, and then hes got the whole game infront of him, he can go left, right, one twos off the front men, slip through balls, go alone theres so many options. this is what would happen atleast 5 times per game....

n'guemo wins the ball.... gives it stright to mcgeady, he goes past one, runs forward, slips it through to mcdonald who scores, simple as tht

he is maybe the type of player you give a free role too BUT his decision making at times is shocking and he isnt the best at shooting BUT again he can work on this and if he does then free role i say

I agree with you.I have been saying it to friends of mine for a while now. When he plays on the wings he has a tendency to drift into the center anyway so why not leave him their.
He has the pace and the skill to take on players which we are lacking in the center of midfield and have ngeumo as the holding midfielder saying that he has a bit of pace as well and mcignn, mcourt or maloney on the wings :50::50:

in behind the forwards that way he might learn how to get his head up and see what is going on around him and he might learn a quick pass can help the team rather than him trying to beat every player on his own.

i think he is not great on the right wing and maloney is better on the left ,think his bst position is in the centre mid as a link for counter attacks.

his best position is all to do with a formation to suit him best and he is excellent at skinning people so why not push him up further. i would us a 4 3 3 formation, Also this formation would certainly win the league.

Its about McGeady not the whole team.
