Are you religious?

Personally, I'm an athiest, but I was baptised in the Church of Scotland. What about yourself?

 

Baptised a Catholic, go to Church every Sunday and all that.
Only really go because I go with the maw, but I do quite strongly hold the majority of the beliefs.

I guess I'll properly see just how strong they are once I leave the house go into the world on my own, seeing if I still go to church etc. I'd like to think I will.

 

I am a doctor and I took the Hippocratic Oath and I have to believe
in Almighty *, which I do anyway.

In simple terms no I am not religious, although I was baptised a Catholic, I don't even believe in *.

 

Brought up Catholic but with a Protestant mother. I have no time for religion whatsoever and can't help but feel the world would be a much better place without it but I understand why people turn to it for answers.

 

Celtic is my religion .

Until I get old and have nothing else to do but go to chapel and suck up to * before i kick it :icon_mrgreen:

Would be worrying if you didn't already have morals like, don't kill folk and don't take other people's stuff. Also I'm pretty sure if the bible was a big ol' book of *'s rules he wouldn't be too pleased with his readers picking and choosing themselves what they want to believe. Otherwise, why even have a book?

 

There were/are a few members of my family who used to go to church/chapel and it seemed to give them a bit of solace or belonging, which I don't think is that bad at all. Supposedly when I was born there was a bit of a row between both sides of my family as to where I'd be baptised because one side is Catholic and the other Protestant. I think that's when it's went too far.

 

I hate the splitting of hairs between churches. They are all christian and to me its downright unchristian to set and dwell on the differences. Would Jesus give a * about whether we have a pope or an archbishop or whether the wine is symbolic or litterally his blood? I think he would be disgusted at those who dwell on differences between churches while ignoring the fact they have the same bible (give or take the odd tweak). I think we need a united world church which leaves all the bits and pieces of tradition that divide us as matters left to individual concience.

 

Brought up Catholic and went to church every Sunday until early teens but I now consider myself "non-religious". Not atheist, but certainly do not believe in any religion.

Not going to get into detail but I believe if there is some form of higher power or a "creator" then it is most likely be far beyond human understanding. Ultimately all I really believe is that I am going to go through life simply not knowing if there is or isn't and it is best to just try to live life how I see fit.

 

I like the sentiment, but you will always get those who will just say 'oh but the Catholic Church/some Protestant denomination is already the world church'.

 

On a purely practical level, the UK is a country of empty churches and its simply daft to have 5 20% full churches instead of one full one. I think the problem is a lot of people have a negative way of defining themselves through differences not similarities. They always need an opposite force to define themselves against or they cant get passionate.
