It was a shocker by McManus and a straight red IMO.
It also highlighted once again McManus's lack of pace
    and rashness in the tackle.

It gets worse every time you watch it, it's a Sunday league tackle by a Sunday league footballer.

Have to say I'm embarrassed by the tackle by Mc Manus, for club made famous for playing fast attractive football we should hold our heads in shame if this goes unpunished by the club.

His captaincy must now be put in doubt, it should never had been the case in the first place as he is not an inspirational captain, he really isn't good enough to be a Celtic player.

Let's hope come the end of January that at least half of last nights team will also fall into the category of ex-Celtic players, they were a real disgrace to Celtic.

My goodness this thread is OTT, im my eyes it was a mixture of knowing Driver was through and frustration.

McManus is never a celtic captain, he isnt even a good defender. He was for the off when MON was still at the football club.
Then wgs came in and McManus had 1 good season, but after Neil Lennon hung up his boots and McManus became captain he steadily got worse and worse and worse. Its time he left the club. He and Caldwell can head for Middlesbrough if Strachan wants them.:38:

    * aff ya clown, maybe if other players around him showed the same commitment he wouldnt have to resort to taking the man out. Your probably one of the prawn sandwich brigade who complain about people singing beside you.:bbpd:

The tackle isnt that bad!! It looks a million times worse because Driver is clean through. These tackles happen! It should be a Red Card every time but usually they get a yellow. That is what the Ref was giving because thats what they usually give!

The reason that the tackle looks like a sunday league player tackle is because every tackle that is made by a professional player is the same as a sunday league player! Go and watch a pub team and you will see tackles like that all week. Would you see a guy make an outstanding challenge then demand he went and played professionally??

He wasnt caught out of position. He was covering the Middle and left side of defence. The ball broke down the left hand touch line. He then has to make up ground on one of the fastest players that we play against in the SPL.

I have read that we still had a minute and a half to play and we might have scored. If Driver had got past Mick then there is a good chance that he would have scored. Everyone would have shouted and balled that our captain should have brought him down further out and stopped the goal.

    Hail Hail Mick

Now please everyone get a grip.

I wonder how the people who are glossing over this tackle would be feeling if Lee McCulloch had done the same to Aiden McGeady. There'd be a different tune being sung then.

Just because it was the Celtic captain that did it does not make the tackle ok. It was an absolute shocker! End of story.

You are correct, if McCulloch had made that tackle we would all be shouting about how shockingly bad it was. The reason : It was a Rangers player against a Celtic player. You are not being objective. Looking at that tackle objectivley you see its a bad tackle, deserving of a red card every time. But the red card doesnt happen every time, it usually gets a yellow.

It was not a shocking tackle. I was not shocked. End of Story!!
