Now, before we start with sustainable financial models and the like, having watched that tonight, something has to be done. We know that the boys on the board have serious money, but they've never really parted with it. the SPL isn't going to allow us to generate the sort of money where we'll compete in Europe and we're already milking every other avenue for all their worth.

Serious money needs spent, or it's going to be another Macari era.

Yep, totally agree. I don't see it happening though somehow. Oh well I hope so anyway.

the board will look at this and say " well look at this they had a right go and deserved something against a club who have splashed the cash big time why should we spend?" or something like that

It won't happen though whether it's needed or not and to do it would be suicide in the current climate.

What we need is the same thing we've needed for about 15 years+, a ticket out of the footballing backwater in which we reside.

I think we are too lightweight, we need big * like O'Neil buys. Look at Villa they score from nearly every set piece they get near the box, when was the last time we dominated from set pieces??? January is going to be a major time for us, thank * Rangers are just as bad as us

yeah it would be nice but that team that guped rangers the other night hardly spend millions, you can be a good team without spending that much

i dont suppose hapoel spent much money & they pumped rancid, also scored 2 against us & hunburg in their ain midden, the majority of our squad just aint up to the task.

both o f teams have went backward to early nineties, with every defeat brings less hope ,less belief against european teams.

Being honest we all know the board will not spend big. So people who have moaned about mowberrys appointment are blinded by the past aswell since december 2007 we have been shocking bar a good spell at start of last season. There is to many poor talentless over paid wanabees in the squad but because of the SPL set up where only us or rangers can win and lack of funds we cannot have a proper go at a clear out and rebuilding job.
It will be the usual papering over the cracks and make do with poor players who wouldnt have got a job cleaning ex players boots.
I understand we cannot compete financially but i believe we need to do better in player recruitment and development as everyone we sign seems to get worse instead of better. Watch Nguemo, crosas even samaras to a degree their touch control and passing has declined massively since they were signed.

am gonna say this at the risk of getting pelters, mcgeady is not and never will become a great player for us,and before you all pick on maloney to compare, he was * tonight to,his worst game, but the reason for that is he is no right winger and never will be, but he is more effective on the left than mcgeady.
i have hoped apon hope that tonight and every other night in europe he is gonna explode onto the stage but always a big major letdown , but its not just him , mc manus and caldwell are accidents happening ,fed up wating for them to come good.

because sooner or later it will become crystal clear that ''having a rite go'' will not win points and competetions and therefor their income will start to fall. * shame that they will only make a move once their money stops flowing in. Absolute * shame.:31:

Aye, because all those Saudi billionaires are just itching to invest in the pisspot returns/advertising benefits of the SPL

What we need to do is remain self sustainable but trim some of the players that Strachan (of whom I was a supporter of) 'collected' like Mark Brown, Naylor, Kennedy, Flood, Mizuno, Killen as well as a couple of 'bigger' named players i.e. one of Caldwell/McManus (he'd be my choice) and Scott Brown. The money freed up in wages couples with modest transfer fees could fund around 3 decent, if not spectacular signings.

    Get rid of 1) Samaras 2) Killen 3) Robson 4) S.Brown 5) Flood 6) Mizuno 7) Caldwell 8) McManus 9) M.Brown 10) Crosas

    Bring in 1) 2 Solid CB's 2) 2 Creative Mids 3) Attacking Mid 4) Consistent Striker 5) Sub Striker

    That's All!

Problem with McGeady in this Celtic team is he is the only danger man and always has 2/3 men round him. His final ball is shocking yes and he will never be a world class player but if we had a few more danger men then maybe he could get a little more space to do something. I dont compare McGeady and Maloney as i dont rate Maloney that much tbh
