A tell you who really rescued them, Martin Palermo, this guy is 35 and hasn't had a look in for Argentina and delivers at this stage of his career at this level. Scoring a last minute winner in their last match after comign on as a sub. See if Diego wasn't their coach, he wudn't be in because the the Boca connection helps there.

Shame he couldn't have had a better time in Europe- same with a lot of people but he is a proven scorer and playing for Boca Juniors is still a high level imo.

Is it a good thing going to the World Cup with Maradonna at the helm ?.

Yeah a world cup needs Messi but not Maradonna as coach, he has no idea what hes doing. Hes playing Messi in different roles and they are not his best. I have never seen Messi coming so deep to get the ball and be so inaffective in 2 games in a row. As far as Tevez and Aguero not starting well thats just craziness as is leaving out Cambiasso, Maxi Rodriguez, Walter Samuel and others. Diego must go before the world cup or they have no chance, but do the Argentina FA have the balls to sack him! I was very dissapointed in Uruaguay last night, when it came to the crunch they froze hope they go through the play offs

Have to say I'm glad the Argies are going. I like to take my holidays during the summer when there's a big tourney, so it's great to sit down with a pint and watch the best players, and Argentina have some really watchable guys, Messi, Veron, Aguero, etc...

Shame about Maradona, perhaps one of my least favourite guys in world football. Complete bell-end.

Watching the goal go in, I was amazed that Messi didn't appear to be celebrating.

Then when you see it again, you realise he's about three yards offside, bearing down on the keeper!

Well dodgy decision, he surely has to be a distraction to the goalie - but the main thing is that Argentina are going to be at the World Cup finals, where they belong. We get to see Messi, Mascherano, Aguero etc. And along with Portugal, we have two extra teams who are liable to hump England oot the competition. :50:
