    Hi guys,
was just reading peter lawells interview about celtic and rangers moving to the english league, and i have to say, we definetly need them more than they need us. With scottish football on its knees like never before, celtic and rangers are sniffing around the basement for championship or even lower league class players, loan deals and free contracts. The simple fact is, we NEED to move to england before we fall more and more behind the Portsmouth, Bolton, Fulham and Wigans of this world, with Celtics history, size and tradition, were in grave danger of becoming a "who" of european football. Teams such as Rapid Vienna and Hapoel Tel Aviv spend more money on players than we do and calmly brush us aside, this should not be happening to a club our size. Its hard to see a bright light at the end of the tunnell, but until we start bringing in the sort of money to compete with the medioker teams in england then i dont see a way up for us.
    Thoughts plz.

100% agreed! I'd love to go down to the EPL because we would be able to attract big name players in time! We are a massive club but will never attract top players because we are unable to offer big wages and more significantly, we play in a poor league!

I would rather stay in Scotland and bring the club back to the fans. In the EPL even more normal working class Celtic fans would be priced out of supporting our team. I hate the way the chase for money has ruined football and joining the English * would only distance us from our roots even more.

Celtic should forget about chasing the money and riches and remember who they are.

    From the social mission statement...

A team of the people, can't see that happening in the corporate driven EPL

    Money can't buy you love

Your right Gordy about the pricing ,it would be a novelty at the start fans wanting to go to Liverpool and Manchester and London and so on but then they get a bank statement through and it will hit them hard .

I like the idea of staying where we are ,Celtic are a Scottish team and belong here but im sure if there was an invite to the English league the powers that be would not hesitate and go for it ,but like you say where does the ordinary punter fit into this ,the prices would go through the roof at the home games aswell .

Said it before, if they go there they will price the present day fans in Scotland out of the game.
They will be bigger Bhoys in a bigger game with bigger prices.

As much as I would love to see it happen, I would hate for the fans to suffer.

Times have changed, money and tv rights dictate football as a whole, we seem like the only big club in world football who are not getting any money and not attracting good players, we have to think of the future of our club, i for 1 am wasting 575 quid on a season book to watch medioker and sub standard players running around a football field like headless chickens, id rather watch us play against top teams like man utd, liverpool, arsenal and chelsea every week and get good value from our money,a nd at the same time regain our status as 1 of the biggest and best teams on the planet, who can attract the best players and pay the best money...now thats good value.

What gives you the idea that the ticket prices would be raised? The reason the prices are so high is because we have so little TV money coming in, the prices would stay the same or even get cheaper. They don't force you to go to the games anyway - some people act as if they do.

And I think it would be worth paying an extra couple of quid (even if it got more expensive) to see the likes of Torres and Drogba everyweek rather than Invincible and Nade.

    It simply must happen.

    * this * man.

    I don't give a * about the money!

I want Celtic to remain in Scotland as we always have, this is where we are from.

I want my sons and grandsons to have the chance to pull on the hoops one day.

This will never happen if we sell our soul for money!

How many English or Scottish players make it into the big money in the EPL? Very * few.

Honestly all everyone is on about these days is * money and it does my * right in.

All I want to see is 11 guys in the hoops who care about the game as much as the fans and give 100%.

Lets not forget about our overseas fans here to. No money equals bad players, bad players equal bad entertainment, bad entertainment equals no tv rights purchased which then leads to us overseas never seeing the bhoys. Something has to be done very soon otherwise we will be competing in a league no better than the Irish league.

To be perfectly honest I couldn't give a * about how we are in relation to Wigan or Bolton. Same way I don't give a * about how we are in relation to Ajax or PSV or any other foreign teams.

We are a Scottish club and only have to compete in our own domestic game, that is our bread and butter, has been since we were formed. Why now do we want out of it? The lure of more money? * that!

Sell out your own country, own game and own fans so that we can pay mercenaries hunners of grands a week to pull on the hoops, nah. Thats not Celtic for me!

I'd much rather see a big focus from Celtic on improving what we have already in this country not selling out for a slice of Rupert Murdochs money.

i doubt it'll ever happen, plus we would never go straight into the EPL. we'd have to start right at the bottom. could you imagine the stink that would be kicked up by other english teams (quite rightly so) if we just waltzed straight into the EPL.

I am not just talking about ticket prices.

To get to the away games in England, the prices for Planes, Trains and Buses would be hyped up for that weekend. How many fans in Scotland at present struggle at present to afford to go and see Celtic every game home and away.

The robbing * that run these services will not miss the opertunity To up their revenue. As happens now every time when Celtic play in Europe.
Lots of the fans would have to stay in hotels owing to where they are travelling from and to where and according to method of transport used.
    More money, money, money.
I Believe Celtic would up their ticket prices, an oppertunity not to be missed. Because as Mr Nice says it is all about money nowadays.

Celtic would no longer have to care about the fans in Scotland not being able to come to away games, they already know there is enough supporters in the major towns in England to turn up for them.

I agree it is worth paying extra to see some of the top players in the world live. But how many of the fans in Scotland can realy afford the amount it would cost every other weekend and what about games during the week.

The question I would like answered is, if Celtic did get a genuine offer to play in England, would the fans in Scotland be a major factor in their deliberations as to wether they accept it or not..
I fear not in todays money orientated rip off world.

Guys lets look at the future of the club. The league as it stands is struggling, cant generate money and in the future no tv rights will be purchased if things remain the same. No tv right will mean that the sponsors will dissapear, lets not kid ourselves, businesses dont sponsor for the love. And if the bhoys arent on tv then the players will be no names, children will have different idols, and the basis of the club within the world and reigon will dissapear. Im not saying lets move to the EPL but something has to be done soon. As much as it sucks the club if you like it or not is a business and will forever be, lets stop living in the 1960s and start living in year 2009

Balls mate absolute balls. If the bhoys aren't on Rupert Murdochs payroll then they are no-names  this is exactly the * that downright does my * in. Its as if everyone is * brainwashed by watching sky that they think that its the be all and end all of football in the world today.

We are a Scottish club and should be prepared to fight for the survival of football in this country. We along with all other Scottish clubs are in the same boat here. Maybe we wont be as high profile as other Leagues in the world but we would have remained true to our roots, our country's football and our culture and that to me is worth a * load more than the dirty money offered elsewhere.
