seriously he cant do anymore to get a run, if he doesnt replace mcgeady during his suspension serious questions will have to be asked.:celt_2:

Paddy, maybe you should speak to the manager rather than vent your feelings here mate.

He is * class, cant believe he's not fit enough after all this time! against benfica he showed what he can do, * magic with the ball at his feet! looking at clips of him from derry city and that, incredible. Going past players as if they are not there! if we got him up to good enough fitness levels, he;d run a mock. Just a shame we didnt get him younger, woulda been a star!

Hmmm, you wouldnt be biast when it comes to anything Paddy does

McCourt spent much of last season battling injury problems and his fitness issues. Him running off to play at a lesser club when the going is getting tough would be him failing, again.

If people need to be convinced, he has the training ground every day to prove himself.

Admittedly i have a soft spot for flair players, which we are woefully short of, and having watched paddy at close quarters for years, i am convinced he can do things with a ball that defy any sense of logic or reason... he is simply a joy to watch. Winning is indeed everything, but you like to see it done well and i am of the belief that paddy can make some spl defenders look very foolish indeed.:50:

Paddy's level seems to be Eircom League/Lower SPL because of his fitness and his time lost at the end of the bottle when he 'made it' at Rochdale.

His flair is nothing without the necessary fitness levels to succeed in any SPL match and Europe. He's not there yet but hopefully he will. Time is not on his side though.

I hope Paddy gets a run with Aiden suspension..just because it will hopefully end the discussion of whether he should get playing time or not. Another one I wanna see for the same reason is Willo..tired of hearing whether he should play or not.

he probably needs a run in the team to build his confidence, i think that's the type of player he is. if he gets a decent run he will show everybody how good he is. Will the manager give him this though?

It was a friendly against Cork, no disrespect to Cork but they're not exactly world beaters.

He was injured for a lot of last season, and often his fitness levels were so poor he couldn't last 90 mins of reserve football.

Although he obviously has the skills he still needs to prove his fitness, plus I wouldn't pick him ahead of McGeady or Maloney just now.

He'll get his chance, it's up to him whether or not he takes it.

I dont know why people keep saying he is "guna be great just needs to get fit",he has had year in a half if he was good as everyone says mowbray would have played him a meaningful match, bar that game against arsenal we were desperate and he did nothing then

I watched the game in Toronto against Benfica and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed with what I saw. It seemed to me Paddy McCourt has a tendency to try the 'hollywood' pass and give the ball away - rather than just do the simple thing. He also seemed to try and beat 3 men instead of just beating 1 and passing the ball. He's not George Best or Jimmy Johnstone, as much as he tries to be.

Granted this was only 1 game that I've seen him play. But that was my first impression of him. If he does that all the time then he does not deserve a shot at the Celtic first team. I'd rather see Mizuno play or see Crosas put in the middle and Broonie moved out to the right side of midfield.

What exactly is a joke? That he hasn't been picked for the games we didn't play the past week and a half?

He had a back injury that they didnt want to do surgery on. So basically he rode it out but he wasnt able to train flat out last season. He was suppose to spend his summer holidays with Dupont doing plyometric based training to just be ready for pre season.

Why was McCourt not in the Northern Ireland squad?? Just watching the highlights just now, Niall McGinn was there, he's just come on and looks the part. Cracked a shot off the bar within seconds of coming on!
