Seen there was another thread about Scott McDonald going to Wigan in January, well maybe going, but this link on sky sports news website says that McDonald is happy to stay for the remainder of his contract which is 3years, Cos he is playing for his childhood club & winning trophies so what more could he ask for? Which is right enough.. So Skippy is staying :icon_mrgreen:

So sorry for those of you who want McDonald out the door for what ever reason. You will just have to lump it, Cos he is staying, I dont know why all of a sudden fans are wanting rid of McDonald. 53 goals in 2 & abit seasons for Celtic, great scoring record & a bargin for the £700k we paid for him.. Glad he wants to stay :icon_mrgreen:..

Great news, We cant be losing one of our best players if we want to reclaim the league.

"Some players never win anything and very few actually play for the club they supported from childhood. In Scott's case he is doing both."

Did you hear that martinez? he'd be doing neither at your club:icon_mrgreen:

I think when everyone gets used to the new style it will be unstoppable in the SPL..McGeady and Shaun on the wings creating havoc every where on the field, Fortune holding up the ball out wide and Skippy finishing in the box and Scott Brown, N'Guemo and hopefully Crosas cleaning up the midfield.

Money talks and if the board get an offer they think is right then he's gone whether he wants to stay or not

what a great thing to see that a player actually wants to stay at his Club cos he wants to win silverware and that he actually supports the shirt he plays for! WOW!!!
Well done Skippy and well done to his agent. So what was that * Willie Mackay on about then? He is not even mentioned here.

even the photo I found for my Avatar clearly shows Skippy beaming to be at Celtic Park! It's as he does not believe his good luck to be there. Living his dream (And that of millions of Celtic fans the world over).

There is no smoke without fire. This is Mackay trying to get a new contract for MacDonald, since he only cost 700k his wage will be a lot less than Fortunes. If Celtic dont play ball we will see another Maloney carry on. These players only care about money, remember he almost signed for the scum before we moved for him.

Im scott mcdonalds biggest critic, although he scored alot of goals in his first season, i havent seen anything since that would have me rating him as my "1st choice striker"
I think he played well in a third of his games last season, which isnt enough, his weight is still an issue and its not effecting his speed, he sorta waddles around the park trying to hold the ball up, instead of running onto balls.

    Lou Sticca is McDonald's agent.
McDonald signed a new contract in June 2008, and it is very much unlikely to be the wage packet of a £700k player.
Maloney was in the last six months of his contract when he moved to Villa, McDonald has four years left on his, the situations could hardly be any more different.

It's amazing how much bullshit and misinformation can be squeezed into one post.

Please Note - I posted this comment previously on another Skippy related board, but makes equal sense to re-iterate my view here...

OK. A few things I'd like to comment on.

I saw a quote from his agent saying that Skippy is only focusing on life at Celtic. He has 3 years on his contract, wants to win silverware and is playing for his boyhood heroes. I also noted that the agent who made this comment was not the same as the one who was indicating that a move was pending in the week preceeding the transfer deadline.

Now, I am as skeptical as any of you when seeing quotes from agents, especially when they appear in what is laughingly referred to as 'the press' in this country but I was watching the news from back home, in the build up to the Socceroos friendly with South Korea, Skippy himself made a comment along the same lines, re-iterating he didnt want to be distracted by such talk.

Secondly, of the 4 senior strikers we have, McDonald has proven himself the most reliable. Since his unheralded arrival from Motherwell, he has scored over 50 goals, finishing top scorer each time. He has also proven to have the industry, motivation and tenacity to show up, dig deep and find a performance on those miserable away days in deep winter, playing on pitches that more closely resemble a quagmire.

Compare this with the other guys. Samaras started extremely well last season, but as quickly as the crappy Scottish winter deescended, his performances diminished and goals production also. We know he has ability, but no consistency. You never know what you're gonna get from him.

Then there is Fortune. On limited viewing, and it is only early days, his work rate looks to be pretty good, but the jury is still well out with regards to his finishing capabilities. Dare I say his name, but only a few years ago Kenny Miller would run and run, work hard etc, and granted, scored a couple of pretty memorable goals, but simply couldnt finish enough to save himself. Can Fortune provide 20 odd goals expected?

And Killen looked OK in pre-season, but how much was that putting in for the team, and how much was it of him trying to show potential suitors of what he has to offer? Now that the season is underway, and he has once again been relegated to 4th choice, what can be expected with limited opportunities and sub appearances?

Since Mowbray's arrival, the contributions from midfield, and especially from the wide men, McGeady and Maloney, look to be far greater than what went before. Even if both chip in with double figures, is it worth the risk of losing our most consistant goal scorer?

Then there is the money. A few comments posted say £4-5m... What can you get for that nowadays, especially for a striker? The days of signings like Di Canio are gone. Sutton & Hartson each cost £6m and that was nearly 10 years ago. Times have changed. What would each of those guys cost in todays transfer market? Double? There may be a hidden gem, a Henrik or a Lubo somewhere out there, and who knows, we may even find one someday, but we cant rely on that.

Bottom line, bhoys and ghirls, there is a league championship out there to be won. Lets get behind the guys, give as much support as we can, and go from there.
