Do fans even like footballers anymore?

I know people wanna support their clubs and their players...but do fans really even like players anymore?

I don't think there has ever been such a gulf between players and fans. I don't like players much and I wouldn't care to meet them even if I could.

To me (a few exceptions obviously) they appear as overpaid, selfish, arrogant, leeches who don't give a f** about fans.
Maybe it's just me feelin * off about football, as the credit crunch and recession worsens, players seem to get paid even more and ticket price don't come down despite empty seats everywhere

I agree mate. The game had become a business and the common punter is there to be ripped off. The wages some players get now are obscene. They don't make players like Danny McGrain or Paul McStay anymore, honest pros who get the head down and work. It's all about flashing the cash and having 4 sports cars.

 

They should reduce the prices of tickets. I've only just realised how much I pay on tickets a season and it's shocking. £84 for the Europea 3 match package

 

Good OP. _Never thought about that before. Certainly different in the past. Players were far more approachable.

bollocks they are doing what 60 thousand fans think they can do better
and should be paid big time for it .i just think they are a bit more savvy now considering the feakin excuse for a press blow everything out of proportion. i know i would be very careful with spy in the net ,you tube ,* cameras and all unseen recording devices

think TM is trying to change that get the players closer to the fans hearts i certainly wouldnt class maloney as 1 of these money grabbing playboys

 

think its a combination of my age and the current state of the game but i have no time for players now.

Football became a great business. It's so rare to see that players' love for the club and its fans. Maybe we can see it in Barca, but they are also extraordinary paid. It's sad but it's true.

 

Most of todays players are arrogant * and dont give a toss about us punters

remember the days, and it aint that long ago, about an hour after the match you would see them coming out to their cars or a cab, you could even talk to them and they would talk back, now you get nowhere them

See to be honest, The whole Bellamy refusing to sign a Rangers shirt thing, kinda sums this thread up. It was pretty funny but it shows the contempt that some players have for us "peasants".

agree with u .there ma cousin has seen mcgeady and odea in the town and they are door face and dont even flinch when you say hi. they only realise the fans when you cheer them after they score on feild. surprisingly kenny miller does talk and his freindly
