with it being such a limited market rather than have high price and maybe get 100/200 fans going you would think they would lower the cost and get maybe a few thousand turn up.

I checked flights to travel independently from Dublin this morning and the cheapest I could get was around 900 euro although I only managed to check 3 airlines (price comparison websites are blocked at work) :54:

As it is work won't give me the time off work so I can't go anyway, but it's obviously expensive enough to travel to - although you are right Thomas Cook is a complete rip off and I never use them would rather make my own way over and sit in with the home fans if I can't get a ticket for the away end.

There not daft these travel firms ,they know that Celtic will have a good support travelling out there ,Try another airport ie ,Berlin etc Berlin is about 40-50 miles away but it could work in a lot cheaper than going to Hamburg.

How does the deal work between Celtic and thomas cook? How do we make money? Would it not be better for Celtic to just do it themselves?

the best bet for the hamburg game is to fly to berlin or bremen, direct flights will be through the roof

got my flights dublin to berlin for 90 euro, then 50 euro for the train to hamburg

this happens all the time mate tbh! its the time they can screw the punter by chargeing more money for going to away games for football as they know fans will pay it! shocking tbh.

you can also go from edinburgh to bremen with ryanair, don´t know about the current prices tho. but what i would advise if you do fly to bremen and take a train from there to hamburg be sure to buy the "niedersachsen ticket" it´s sort of a county ticket. it costs 28€ for 5 people, where as the regular fare for 1 from bremen to hamburg would be around 20€ :50:
i miss them days when you could fly from prestwick to lübeck for fck all, lübeck is about half hour drive away from hamburg...

I am waiting to see what Semple Travel and the other guys have for Hamburg before doing anything. Their girls have done a few trips for us, including Milan a couple of years ago, and the price was far better than T/Cooks

Because it would involve a) overheads and b) accepting responsibility should anything go * up. Economies of scale dictate that a firm already dealing with hundreds of thousands of flights are better placed to offer better deals and service for a couple of thousand passengers provided by a client (who is rewarded for the custom).
