People running the SPL aren't so bright. But let's be serious -- Scotland is a small "country" that was never going to create a super-league like EPL has become.
However, had tv stations in Spain, Italy, Germany, and possibly even France beat Sky to the punch -- the roles would be reversed right now.
I could even credit the market craze with attracting ridiculously loaded owners such as Chelski, ManUre, and ManShitty now have. They're all willing to blow silly money as if they're playing monopoly because the entire world has EPL shoved down their throats all season.

well i can see only one thing here

    42 scottish leagues against 13
    34 scottish cups against 10
    one european cup against none

well i can see only one club who is bigger here. money and fanbase arent really an indicator of how big a club is are they?? then right now if we consider the whole world chelsea would be bigger than us :31:. i also saw some discussion regarding the fans outside of scotland. well i have only 2 friends who are celtic fans in india and both of them are scottish with me being an indian with scottish connections. but i would prefer quality over quantity. we have arsenal fans here who dont even know what 'highbury' is lol. most of them are post-double fans. you cannot consider the present condition only to tell that arsenal are bigger because that would be hypocrisy. you guys named your stadium after a sponsor and poach kids aged 15 from * knows where. you guys didnt have an english player when you played us. how can you call yourselves english ( dont bring in wilshere again). maybe that the reason why arsenal are considered as a tutoring club nowadays when players like flamini, hleb and other run towards greener pastures. our youth may not be skillful enough but are 'ours' unlike your french hotshots :icon_mrgreen:. sorry, but in pure footballing sense

    CELTIC>arsenal

To echo what looks_nik said, Arsenal are a smaller club than us who found themselves with lots of money to play with. Like an effective version of Spurs or West Ham.

So they might buy big players, and end up in quarters and semis of the CL, i.e. a gentlemans club where only the rich are allowed and if you're not rich we'll make it * hard for you to get in. They might have the stars, but where are the titles? Where is the passion? You get the impression that without Wenger the would just be another rich Premiership also-ran...

but yes in the publicity sense, being a celtic fan here is not easy. we have only the old firm derbies live here and i have to watch hull vs stoke instead of celtic matches :47:. i had to search for a month for an original celtic jersey whereas arsenal / united/ chelski jerseys sell on the streets here like meat. i have to watch youtube videos to catch the highlights and catch up with live text commentary to be in touch. but still, we are going the right way by not commercialiasing the game. its football not business :54:

As an answer to you ESPN, they are a company even larger than what sky are.

One other thing, how can you compare domestic titles, as far as i'm aware the spl has only been a two horse race for 90% of the time, so you would be expected to win 40+ titles.

i wonder if so much arrogance would have been there had you lot not got that fluke gallas goal. despite the astronomical difference in transfer budgets and wages, the football pitch is a level playing field. isnt it?? even clubs like hull and stoke have more transfer budgets that us ( what was that negredo to hull for 15 million :31:) but we would hammer any team other than the top four any day. your league is strong only as far as the top4 is concerned. other than that the teams have failed in europe miserably

You guys are trying to make a point that transfer budgets are larger for english clubs etc etc, for the most part you are right but at the same time, arsenal have made a profits on their transfers in recent years, so going by that we actually have a non existant transfer budget to begin with but then gets funded by the selling of players.
The same principle applies to the likes of wigan who are essentially forced into a position to be a selling club. If you had an extensive scouting network, and a man such as arsene wenger in charge, you would find that the celtic team right now would be very similar to the current arsenal team in that you would be picking up players for less than £4 million, yet be worth £25 million 3 or so years later. (Adebayor is the person i'm thinking of there) The only people who have been brought for a lot of money in the arsenal team you saw, were arshavin and sagna.

i think that picking up 15 year olds from foreign leagues is unethical simply because you offer the player and his parents money. that completely kills the club which nurtures the player and then gets nothing in return when you consider how much the player's worth amounts to in the next few years. for a good scouting network, you need some good financial backing too which is precisely what the english sides have. regarding the transfer fees being recouped ,as you said its in recent years. but still your team isnt the best around are they. you will have to inject money if you want to win anything this season.

Well we will see about that this belgian lad looks like he could be a bargain at 10 million, and all we needed from last season was a decent centre half, and/or a defensive midfielder which we seem to have found in song. We scored the same amount of goals as united last season, they just didn't concede.

Oh and i agree it is a bit unethical, but it is the only way this club can survive at the top with the current money being thrown about.

    Arshavin 12m? Definitely over 4m...
Baptista swapped for a player who cost 17m
    Nasri 15m
    Sagna 6m
    Ramsey 5m
    Eduardo 7.5m
    Hleb 11.2m
    Adebayor 7m
    Rosicky 6.8m
    Walcott 5m
    Reyes 10.5m
    Silva 4.5m
    Van Bronck 8.5m
    Wright 6m
    Pires 6m
    Wiltord 13m
    Edu 6m
    Jeffers 8m
    Henry 10.5m
    Lauren 7.2m

    Sylvinho 4m
    Toure 150k
    Cygan 2.1m
    Song 1m
    Eboue 1m
    Diaby 2m
    Diarra 2m
    Senderos 2.5m
    Denilson 3.5m
    Freeman 200k
    Clichy 250k
    Van Persie 2.75m

For every decent player at or under 4m theres 2 that you splashed cash on. This also conveniently ignores a very simple business fact. While anyone could make easy money renting a building in a highly populated area, you need the capital to buy the property and construct the building before you can do anything.
Guess where that capital came from for Arsenal.

west ham united, middlesbrough ( although they are relegated)

regarding the team, two performances dont mean you lot are good enough. chelski are the strongest right now in england. song, denilson and diaby will still suck at big games :icon_mrgreen:

hey u guys , u people keep on claiming us millions of gooner fans here in india or other parts of world as plastic and not true fans ,i think this thinking is totally based on grounds of jealousy bcoz ur club celtic doesnt enjoy such a fanbase it is a nobody and unknown here in india aswell as in most parts of asia and africa.the fans u term as celtic fans in usa or canada r not american or canadian they r just immigrants from ur country living in other country so celtic fanbase cant b termed as global.and we arsenal fans in india r passionate followers of our great club arsenal ,we have to skip colleges and offices by being awake at night to watch the game and we also purchase clubs merchandise on regular basis and i am also planning to visit emirates next year.
celtic fans talk about their history i think though its not their fault to b in spl but even a club like westham or villa would have won 35-40 titles in such a low quality league .so whatever u try to say that celtic r bigger it will b vague as u r clearly not and stop putting the blame on money ,liverpool have all the money when was last time they won the league.
and this so called celtic fan from pune i bet u r a fake celtic indian fan bcoz u say how u r not able to watch celtic matches but u r so passionate about celtic that u even cant find the live spl matches mainly of celtic rangers shown on ten sports.
and u guys please dont mention chelsea in same breath as my great club and even with ur club celtic bcoz they were r and will always a small ,pathetic club who still cant fill their 30000 seater stadium.and finally guys arsenal were voted 2nd most supported club in african continent including south africa and source is OFFICIAL BARCLAYS GLOBAL FANS SURVEY which is biggest survey ever and henry the most popular player ever in history of english football.

we dont enjoy the fanbase because we dont commercialse the game. simple as. mate even the most late of matches start at 10 here. you dont need to stay awake unless you watch midweek cl or epl games. and are you blind?? i have clearly mentioned that only the old firm derby is shown live here. the remaining are mostly delayed. you buy african stars you get african fans. and regarding the league quality, your logic is *. had west ham and villa been so good they would be ruling the uefa cup no?? anyways change your name to ' always tosh machine ' :50:
