Says on wikipedia that he signed for a club called Dempo SC in May just there, but he'd be allowed to go out on trial, dunno whether that would mean a permanent transfer! wikipedia is a lotta crap though

I don't see how anybody could have an opinion one way or another. How often do you really watch the Indian league? Let him go on trial, and if he fails, he will still make us some money with shirts and he'll have gotten his run at Europe. Win-win for both sides. I can't imagine he'd command much in the form of a transfer fee or wages either.

Dempo is a poor team... basically semi-pro by our standards. They're a regular team in AFC equivalent of UEFA Cup (which is like a CL for semi-pro sides), with some success in recent years. They've been in AFC CL only this year -- and got beat at the last qualifier 3-0 by a team I've never heard of. (I've known of Dempo for awhile as they're the dominant team in India)

IMO, at 25 it's a little late to be leaving India -- where football isn't taken very seriously at club or international level. Certainly he could have been in A-League by now.

Yeh he is still available for £1 million now though, says on bbc rumours.

Seen some videos of his, nippy wee player and good finisher. Basically a * in India. Take him on trial, nobody can judge him at all.

Listen guys, I'm of Indian origin & trust me ,level of football in India is pretty bad. It's all Cricket & more Cricket in India.
India have a few club teams & the other teams are teams from big industries or organisations.
Mohan Bagan, Mohamaden Sporting, Vasco etc are football clubs & the rest are ITI (Telephone Factory), Indian Police, JCT Phagwara (Textile Factory) etc.
So all these teams play in a league called Nehru Cup & a cup tournament called Durrand Cup.
Mohamaden Sporting & Mohan Bagan are like the Old Firm. It's one or the other each year & trust me East Stirlingshire will give them both a doing every day of the week. So that's how bad the football is there. You guys should see the ground on which the games are played !!!!!!!!!!! You wouldn't find a blade of grass on the ground !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's all hard dried mud !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aye, I'm not kidding.
The biggest 'Star' of Indian football is Baichung Bhutia & I think he now plays for Vasco (not sure) & he was on trial with the 'Great 'Bury FC in english 3rd division & couldn't hack it & is back in India. So now you know the level of footie in India.
As of this Sunil guy, I'v not even heard of him. Forget Celtic, he wouldn't get a game for Cowdenbeath LADIES team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It also cannot be for commercial purposes i.e. selling strips.
No one cares about football , its as popular as ICE HOCKEY here in Scotland & as I said, it's all * cricket there.
So lets forget about this numpty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:38:

CELTIC are reported to be ready to make an Indian international striker their next signing target.
Sunil Chhetri, who was on trial at Coventry earlier this year and who was also watched by Leeds, has now been linked with the Hoops.
The New Dehli-born 25-year-old has scored 15 goals in 34 appearances for his country, and is currently playing for Indian Premier League outfit Dempo Sport Club, who value him at around £1million.
Chhetri's agent, Yogesh Joshee, said: "Celtic are having a serious look at Sunil. It would be a great chance to prove himself in Europe."
Kenny Moyes, the brother of Everton boss David, is understood to be an advisor to Chhetri as he attempts to move west. If a deal is done, Chhetri would be the first Indian to play for Celtic since 1937 when winger Mohammed Salim appeared in two friendly matches.
India national coach Bob Houghton believes Chhetri has what it takes to be a success in a league like the SPL and the Englishman said: "He is remarkable, brave and honest. He never gives up."
Meanwhile, Celtic defender Lee Naylor could be set for a move to the Premiership with Portsmouth keen to land the player as a replacement for Armand Traore, who returned to Arsenal this summer.
Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie confirmed: "He is one player we've looked at. We'll see what happens between now and the end of August."
Naylor has lost his first-team status to new signing Danny Fox, and he has never hidden his desire to return south for family reasons.
It is understood that Celtic will not demand a huge transfer fee for the player who cost £600,000 from Wolves three years ago.
Naylor is in the final year of his contract and would be allowed to sign for someone else on a free this January, so Celtic will accept a reasonable offer for him.
Elsewhere, Ipswich manager Roy Keane is on the trail of former Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
The Dutch internationalist was released by the Parkhead side last month and is still without a club ahead of the new season.
Keane is believed to have targeted the forward, although Blackburn and Hull have also been linked with a move for Vennegoor of Hesselink.
It was expected that he would return to Holland when he was released by Celtic this summer but interest from England may encourage him to stay in the UK.
