I think we are missing his ability to spot a pass that no1 else would see. That to me was one of his main qualities.

We miss his creativity and perfect passing and shooting. Playmaking, to be exact. Do we have a playmaker? No. People want to push Brown forward to AM position. I mean, come on! Give him his DM spot, that's what he does best and let others do playmaking.

Unfortunately, we don't have one. Crosas is the closest, but he's still young and has to work hard to prove himself and to earn starting eleven spot.

Maloney is more needed on the wing, but I think he would do a good job in the middle.

N'Guemo is pretty good from what we've seen, but he isn't the one for the job.

Donati... Well, I can't see him doing the job. Sure, Mowbray is giving him the opportunity, but just fails every time, like he doesn't show enough desire and commitment.

Conclusion: Naka is surely needed, but we must face the fact that he * us off for 'Japan' ad we must move on with this team.

Maloney played over 2000 minutes, 10th most on the team to be exact. That's plenty of time to gather info for averages -- which is what I'm comparing.
And it's funny how you're blaming the fallout for McGeady's poor form... newsflash: His poor form and regression into dribble-dribble-punt-the-ball-into-the-stands football is why Strachan got on his * in the first place.
Even if you don't want to compare, an assist or goal every 146 minutes is pretty * good for a MF no matter how you're stacking it up. The standard for forwards is a goal every 180 or less.

Your summation of the season is pretty blind-sided as well. It's like all you saw was the last couple games and the final table. We had a decent lead over rangers twice. In both of the periods that we took the lead, Naka was heavily involved. The second time that we bounced back, it was on the back of Nakas' hat-trick. He contributed a lot last year -- unfortunately, when he wasn't 100% nobody else stepped up. The same goes with Skippy, who also contributed a lot. JVoH was only good for the 2nd time we took the lead over Rangers... and otherwise was worthless all year. Sammy was only good for the 1st time we took the lead over Rangers.

If not for Naka ... the league would have been over in March, not May. Now that would have been truly embarrassing.

i think nakas contribution last season wasnt shown enough by setantas refusal to show any of our home games. When naka played on the wide expansive pitch at celtic park he was always outstanding. Problem being none of these games were ever shown on TV. Its on the smaller pitches away from home that we used are headless chickens in hope that we would force a game rather than outplay the opposition. This style just didnt suit naka and tbh wouldnt suit any player with a bit of ability.

out with heid and brown naka was our best player last season so if he was a "passenger" it truly shows how bad we are

well, i go to every home game and see every away game, and its my opinion that nakamura wasnt good last season. I cant even think of the last time he played a decent game never mind a good game away to rangers, hibs and hearts. Give you that, mcdonald contributed alot last season. but im not going to argue about nakamura of last season. he was below standards. Im i think i'll blame it on his desire to go back home.....to spain!!!

    Typical bias around here.
So Skippy provided a lot, but not Naka. It's no mistake the assists and goals are close either.

    We need a Naka-type player.

I thought thats what we missed on Weds, someone ahead of the midfielders but behind the forwards who could take a shot on/provide a killer pass.

It won't be Naka, so maybe we can forget about these types of threads eh?

yeah! thats right, im being bias because mcdonalds my fav player:rolleyes: i noticed youve not siad anything about his poor performances away to rangers, hibs and hearts!

someone hit it on the head when they said you have to much time on your hands. the only stat that im bothered about is the league table at the end of the season. so you can put as many stats up as you want but its not going to change my mind that nakamura had a poor season. i PM you to tell you that its not a personal attack on nakmura or you but i take it you just have to much time on your hands!!!

lol... just like Martin. When you can't win an argument using logic, resort to character assassination. If you think it takes a lot of time to update an excel spreadsheet once a week... you're just lazy.

There's not much to say about the away performances because the entire team played like crap at those venues. As has already been said, we usually field nothing more than a thug squad at many of our away games -- a style that doesn't fit Naka at all.
I could just as easily say we start every game there with 7 or 8 passengers. It's ironic you want to blame 1 player for that. It means you obviously expect more of that player than all the others... you're just not willing to admit it.

As for things people are ignoring -- it's nice how you've said nothing of his contributions last year. I can only assume you agree with me, then. The season would have been over in March if not for Naka.

I was just thinking that, isnt he supposed to be some sort of free-kick expert?

I havent thought about Naka once since he left. I dont think he brought enough to the team that we will miss him terribly and what he did bring to the team he didnt do it often enough. Mind you, he was always capable of a moment of magic but we have other players who are just as capable.

Naka was a FLOP in his final season. IMO he went missing in far too many games, a player of his quality should not have been as poor as he was!

I have tae agree wie everything that Sickbhoy has said, apart from the odd game against teh mini huns and oor feeder club, a can only remeber him having 1 decent game against they orange *, and that wis when he scored that beauty at CP.

I dont think we are missing Naka, we need tae start putting oor chances away!

Apart from the odd free kick (which last season, both his shooting and delivery where pish) what did he actually bring tae the team last season?

McNaka, ye can put up as many stats as ye want, shows ye hiv far too much time on yer hands! Its no gonae change ma opinion!

I guess he really owed us for that "huge" transfer fee we paid to get him. How can you be so ungrateful for the services he put in for Celtic. Also, he was injured for the 2nd half of the season, but he never made any excuses for fans like you and he never complained.

And how can you not criticize mcgeady, samaras, lee naylor, robson (for being injury-prone), brown, or caldwell (when played in midfield didn't do *). I don't remember anyone else performing better than Naka when Naka didn't bring it. If you really expect one squad member to win every game without support, go buy Christiano Ronaldo.
