I'm delighted to see that TM has decided to look within his existing squad, before going out and splashing the cash. He's spent money where it has been needed, but rather than clogging up the team with yet more squad players, he has shaken the dust off a few of them and they look all the better for it. I think Strachan spent money on players who could play attractive football, but whom were stymied by his style of play. TM has not put such great limitations on them and they've seemed to flourish, thus far. I realise it's only a couple of friendlies into a new season, but I'd say things are looking as good as we might've hoped. Donati and Killen have been given a new lease of life and it's possible we might not need to spend to much more money. Hopefully McCourt, Flood and even Naylor can follow suit.

Jesus, there's a possibility Donati could be a regular starter. Bet you never thought that could happen! Long may the revolution continue.:50:

Have to say i've always been sure Donati was capable of much more than he showed under Strachan and he looks like a player again under Mowbray. Long may it continue!

I think Mo has always had the quality there (I dont care wit ye say, ye dont sign for AC Milan for £10m if yer pish)

The only problem is I dont think that his game suits the SPL.

Physicaly he at times seems to be ok but he is always wanting that extra touch, he likes to look around far too much before releasing the final ball and at times he can be so slow (Habits picked up from the most boring league in the world being Serie 'A') which is why I think Strachan and a lot of fans got annoyed with him.

Im all for giving players a second chance and I just hope that Massimo can prove myself and a lot of other fans wrong!

I think the hype over Donati this pre season is a bit over the top, ok he scored today then started to play half decent forward passing football. But before that he was his usual lightweight self sherking every challenge and only passing cross field or short safe passes! But admittedly he picked it up so fair play i wouldnt mind him turning his CP career round as he can be a very handy player but would prefer to watch Crosas.

I think its a bit early to make judgements for the new season but so far so good. Spurs on sun will be a better test to see how they preform.
It'll be good for dynamo game if they can keep the momentum going

I always trhought Donati was a good player. Ok, he maybe had some difficulty adapting to the speed of the Scottish game unlike in italy where its slower but he certainly was a decent player. But Strachan always asked him to play defensively in midfield and that did not suit him as he is more of an attacking player. I think he will still not get a game since its almost certain that our first choice midfield will be:

    McGeady Brown N'Guem Maloney

next season but Donati will be given a game every now and then.

This season is filling me with excitement because Tony Mowbray will be able to use players alot better than Strachan did. It's already being shown with Killen banging them in and Donati playing a couple of superb matches. I agree with the 2nd post that you don't sign for AC Milan for £10m if you cant play football! I always remember Donati in the Serie A with this goal.

If he pulled one of them off against the huns you know he would be an instant Celtic hero. :icon_mrgreen:

    Or one of these!

I thought he was average last night tbh...took his goal well but he had a bit of luck getting past the defenders at the edge of the box with a ricochet.

He gave the ball away quite a few times and i remember one time at the edge of the box which allowed them a free shot on goal....can't be done in a competitve match.
