The most annoying thing about Mcgeady is, He plays his best stuff when he is out wide one on one with a defender. He still persists to come right in the middle then work his way out wide and by then he has 2 or 3 people on him and looses the ball. I feel he should just hug the touchline more and work on his final delivery then he will be the perfect winger. I know he has always said he wants to play in the middle and i dont know if hes trying to prove what he can offer there or whatever but i feel if hes played on wing he has too stay there.

If he was told to stay out on the wing he would ,but i think Mowbray has given him a bit of a free role to see how he does ,if he goes one on one with a defender the chances are ,he will go through on goal or get pulled down ,ive said for a while that i would like to see him playing more directly in the middle and running at central defenders .

he was same last year aswell under strachan. I just think he is better out wide and should leave that role 2 maloney who is better at it. As he Has better shooting and passing ability than Mcgeady to open up defences and create chances for strikers.

if he was restricted to always going for the byline, defenders would get used to it and adjust their play to suit. giving him a free role keeps them uncertain. have to agree though that the final ball needs improving, i feel your frustration :31:

i dont mind if he starts out wide and then maybe cuts in and mixes it up. i just think when he starts as narrow as he does and sometimes from as deep as he does he leaves himself to much too do.

I think next season will probably be his best season and also his last for us. I think Tony will play maloney on the left maning McGeady plays on the right which is his best position IMO and where he plays hi best and thats gonna bring out the best in him. Mowbray certainly gonna use his wingers more than Strachan and so this kinda solves the Nakamura leaving problem since unlike with Strachan we ain't gonna be playing thru the middle as much now.

Hes got the ability to cut inside and shoot so why not? Hes got too much talent to just hit the touchline on each occasion and supply balls. I actually prefer him cutting inside because when he hits the touchline he doesnt have much to aim at because our attacking options are realtively small.

watching mcgeady can be so frustrating ,his bigest problem for me is he tries to do to much,
he should keep it simple at the start of games ,and build it up cauz when his tricks dont work ,he gets * off with himself then it results in spoiling his whole game.
i also dont think he should stick rigidly out wide ,think he is more comfortable having a free role and naturaly wants to come inside :icon_mrgreen:

aggreed:50: last season we were all depending on him cause we know what he can do. there is alot of negatives in his game and when he
lost the ball you seen it on his face
for masel he needs to simplfy abit more, make an earlier pass
the rest will take care of its self

You better get used to it bud because this is the style we will be playing,,both wingers will be encouraged in field to allow space for the full backs to bomb forward..

Aiden was excellent yesterday. Fans expect him to be the main man in every game though...thats not realistic

Thing is everyone says that Aidan should play inside and people always said that about Naka too. You could probably say that about McCourt and Maloney too. Problem is there is no inside position for a player who is not going to defend. Or at least to do that you have to go for a 3-5-2 (which means you need proper wingbacks and cant play real wingers) or maybe a 4-3-3 (where you lose the CM battle. There are good reasons why most managers prefer 4-4-2 and 3-5-2 was ditched in most countries years ago. Even MON ditched his 3-5-2 because of the weakness it created against a team playing with fast mobile wide forwards (or even Peter Lovenkrants). A 4-4-2 is the best all round formation. Unlike 3-5-2, it allows two creative (wide) players where a 3-5-2 usually just has one (in the hole). The answer was essentially what we did under WGS - tuck the two wide men in a bit and you can also reverse their sides which tends to make them tuck in (especially when it was Maloney and Naka in WGS's first season). Even now Maloney is playing this role.

Ah wee Shaun Maloney. Its so good to see him back fit. Having him and Naka on opposite sides in WGS's first season was a joy to watch and wee Shaun won POTY and Magic was an intelligent runner who could make great use of their passes. We never again had that level of intelligence about our attack. We have really missed a fit wee Shaun. Its just a shame that 2.5 full seasons passed and Naka had gone before he could come back fit.

The good thing about Aidan on the right is he seems to mess about with the ball less. His crosses from the left were always of the floaty sort that are easier to defend. Maloney tends to cut in and really whip inswingers while Aidan tried to cross with his weaker left foot and they were a but powder puff. Aidan crosses are much better from the right. Aidan though is a terrible shot when he does cut in and it will be even more limited with him playing on the right. I did like the way Aidan was far less greedy last night though.

I feel mcgeady's worst attribute is his shooting. I feel its pathetic, hits 1 good shot after about 15 attempts.

I will give you that one alright. His shooting is quite bad. Anyone got any theories on why that is? Poor technique? His legs are too weak to generate much power? Not sure what the problem is myself. :43:

see the thing is with mcgeady is he is a good player! but?
he needs to get a grip on a couple of things asap for me and these are

stop trying to beat a man twice!
    improve his shooting and crossing!
stop * greetin and moaning when on his knees whenever he loses the ball!

id give him this season and if he hasnt improved a bit on these things? then id punt him tbh.
