You are right. But if he was to sign for another club and do well, we would be raging. I understand your comment though - if he hasn't done anything useful, then we won't miss anything.

Still, I think he should have got another chance, i.e. Henrik Larsson. Could you imagine if we had hauled of Henrik and got rid of him?! We could easily say he wouldn't have been missed but look at what happened with Henrik.

If Strachan wants him to stay - there must be a reason for that. He has seen more of Du Wei than any of us!

But after one game we didn't have to decide to release him or sign him up on a 4 year contract.

If the contract was better written the loan deal would have been extended to the Summer. However, it wasn't and he now have to look at bringing in a player for his proven ability and not just to sell shirts in China.

Celtic shouldn't have put themselves in this situation.

What is going on with Celtic and contracts, does anyone else feel they are making too many mistakes, Bobo's clause, no new contract for Stan, and this Du Wei fiasco, doesn't fill me with confidence.
It took ages to sort out Magic and Naka's deals as well, can't believe we couldn't find £600,000 for a player Strachan wanted to keep.

GS wants to keep looking at his progress, not keep him for 4 years

If we could extend the loan deal, fair enough but 4 years is a big commitment on someone who to say least is iffy. He was hung out to dry by those around him in the Clyde game.

The guy pays for china an played in china , scottish football is much diffrent so I think we should give the guy an other chance. Larsson scored an own goal in his first celtic. So what you say FOKES??

Shanghai wont give GS and Du Wei what they want. Some players just cant adjust to the SPL either no matter what they do. Du Wei seems determined to prove his worth to the team and I admire him for that, alot of players in his position would have gone back to their old clubs with their tails between their legs, happy to go play at a lower level again,

I believe GS wants to sign him. Its because he was the fall guy for Clyde game GS knows he will get slaughtered by the media and in turn fans who have been manipulated by them in he pays £700,000 after that performance.

The young chinese lad defintely deserved another chance...just happened to be he was thrown in on that game where nobody was at their game - even Roy Keane.

Wish him the best of luck with his future and it's terrible the way he has been treated and slated by the bile media.

I definately believe that the wrong defender is leaving...What about Camara? He has made many more mistakes than Du Wei but is still in "Paradise"...Its a shame for the big guy but I wish him the best of luck for the future.:50:

Mo Camara came into good form before being strangely dropped. I disagree he should leave. Especially with so little cover in that position.

imo celtic have blundered in letting du wei go , maybe not so much in a footballing sense but commercially. the market that was opening in china due to du wei coming to CP was huge. the money men at CP must be kicking themselves.
