My logic is quite simple, Brown's lack of ability in the key area's of tackling, passing and shooting mean that I think he is overvalued at £7M, therefore, if such a bid were to come in i'd be more than happy to take it. I'm sick of seeing players either walking away for nothing year after year, many hanging on long beyond their peak.
I keep hearing people going on about Brown being one of, if not, the best player in our team, but very few people seem to be backing this up with anything. It's like the guy has built a cult of personality. In your opinion, what is so great about him in terms of what he offers on the pitch?

tbh, there were times when brown was too far ahead of what the team were trying to do during a game, i.e. when we were attacking last year the team were too far behind the flair players like McGeady + brown. I think we'll see alot more form Brown in the coming season. To sell him would be madness unless a good replacement was made which I don';t think you would find for less than 5 mil

I don't think broony is hanging around beyond his peak. Is he even 25 yet?

For a guy who can't tackle, he kept that spanish dude quiet in europe last season, cany mind his name but the one who scored the free kick that never should have been given against us and i think won player of the tournament when Spain won the euros, no bad for a guy who cany tackle eh.

Muchos gracias, the very man. I thought Broon played excellent that match and I doubt Senna would relish coming up against broon again.

I like Brown and he is getting better BUT, if we got a bid of £8m or more, then it's a no brainer, we could replace him with that.
Remember, we sold Petrov and he was a better player than Brown.

Football people like Mowbray will keep brown as they know he has the quality to be a top PLAYER. he has some way to go but with a good guy alongside him in the middle he can thrive going forward. He will not be a DM under mowbray...he will be allowed to roam forward.

We should NOT sell Caldwell, Loovens, Boruc, McGeady, McDonald or Brown. Anyone else can go.....save for the new boys of course who deserve their chance.

Remember it was petrov that wanted to leave, the club did everthing they could to try and keep him. Brown will play for Celtic the next 3-4 years and then he will join one of the top leagues and play for one of the top teams in that league.

If thats the criteria can i get a game in Celtics midfield as I am hard-working, determined and energetic too?

The guy puts himself about but is a poor passer, has very little end product, scores few goals and stupidly careers into tackles due to poor control on a regular basis.

It still bemuses me how much Aiden gets accused of 'poor end product' when our player of the year is more guilty of it.

I'm not doubting the guy has some talent, but £7 million plus would be good business IMO.

i think under mowbray this season he going to be allowed to play a certain way that will allow him more goal scoring opportunities .

I think he might get played on the right hand side.which i think would suit him better

Imo he will struggle to get into our 11. I think ngeumo is a dead cert in our midfield for the season because it allows the rest of moggas midfield to attack. So it leaves brown, donati and crosas. And it really depends on who can strike the best balance with nguemo and donati is doing brillant at the moment.

I hope scott can prove me wrong and live up to his potential but imo brown is one of the most over rated players to play for celtic in a longtime and should bite any offer over 5million pounds.

    i agree
never a 4 million player when we got him. but he looked a class act when he was at hibs under mowbray and im sure he never played him in the middle but more on the right side

We shouldn't see Brown, he is going to be the heart of our midfield this season and, for me, the first person on the sheet in midfield. £7m wouldn't get us a replacement that will show the heart that he does in the Hoops!

If you hadn't been such an obnoxious * in your post, I might have answered your questions.
I should have been clearer, I meant the peak of their value
Don't get me wrong, he's had a few decent games, I just find them few and far between. I often find his tackling style to be to harrie the player on the ball until he either makes a mistake or the ref blows his whistle for Scott being over-physical, often the latter.
What is it exactly that makes him the best player in the team in your opinion?
There is no evidence of this as yet

Scott isn't without a few qualities, however it's telling that we are 8/9 pages into this thread and very few pro-Brown posters have been able to tell us what they are....

I think you're overlooking the fact that Scott Brown was rated the best player in the SPL last year by his fellow players. That says a lot. The players wouldn't vote for someone who you describe as blundering idiot with two left feet who lacks all of the essential skills of the game. I'm also sure they wouldn't vote for him if every tackle he went into was headfirst. I wouldn't want to vote for someone who constantly drove his head into my body, maybe that's just me though. Sorry, but thumbs down on this thread.
