Anyone that says that don't know what being a Celtic fan is all about.

There is no such thing as a "better" or "truer" Celtic fan, there are just Celtic fans (no matter how long you've supported the team) and those that are still living in the darkness :icon_mrgreen:

I've only been following the team for the past few years, but I don't think you need to be born with it. Most of my friends in the U.S. that watch football support English teams like Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, but none of them quite understood why I was a Celtic fan at first. Many of them respect my love for the team now though and a few have told me that they think it is probably more fun supporting a team that is somewhat smaller in regards to finance and European success. I was also able to convert my dad even though neither of us are catholic. I go to a non-denomenational church, however protestants across NI and the UK are very different then many of the protestants in the U.S. whom subscribe to many different denominations such as baptist, methodist...etc, but thats a whole different subject.

I've really only been watching football for maybe five years and have never played the sport in my youth. I started watching it right before I visited France in 2004 and after seeing the passion in regards to the Euro Cup, I was hooked. I watched most of the Ireland matches as my Irish heritage had always been very important to my family and from there I discovered Celtic. I had always known a little about the team through "celtic" music and references to the team, however it wasn't until I looked specifically for a club team to support that I really knew a whole lot about the team. And of course after deciding to support Celtic, I read up quite a bit about the history and watched videos and fell in love with what Celtic stood for.

I don't think there are many clubs that have such a rich history and were founded on such important values. I think that contributes to the "feeling" many of us get when watching Celtic, it's a pride of what Celtic is regardless of the end result of a given match. I would argue that most Man UTD, Chelsea, and Liverpool fans don't quite get the same feeling we do.

being born in canada i was never pushed into being a celtic supporter...i grew up in a culture thats is hockey-mined...in fact my best friend was drafted to the NHL (LA Kings) in 2007...but i was drawn to soccer (football) at an early age and eventually was drawn into the celtic phenomenon...my dad was raised in tollcross and eventually moved to east killbride but still went to every celtic home game...im proud to say my da was a Jungle Bhoy and the celtic tradition will pass on to my future children

I'm a kiwi, I started supporting Celtic when I was 13.. I feel proud to be a tim when I first stepped into Celtic Park in 2006... I'm 25 now. I miss the butterflies in your stomach thing, Celtic vs Rangers, Champions League night, I can't wait for the season to start!

ALL I KNOW THAT IS..... ONCE A TIM, ALWAYS A TIM! :50:

I think you need only look at some of our foreign players who knew nothing about us before signing and see the depth of feeling they developed for the club.
Just be grateful you were given this opportunity man and support Celtic with all your heart

my boyfriend was born a tim and was christened a catholic as his father is a die hard Celtic fan - follows them everywhere and anywhere but his mother was a protestant but still bought her son hoops and republican strips and let him go to Paradise every week with his father. his mother and father fell out and his mother started going with a rangers fan and my boyfriend was bought a rangers strip by his mother as he was told there would be no Celtic stuff in their house. so he was brought up a rangers fan, when i met him i went to all Celtic home and away games and he wouldn't mind if i played rebel songs if he was there, he didnt mind me coming out of paradise drunk singing Celtic songs to him even though i wouldn't allow him in my house with a rangerstop on so i thought something was odd then one day out of the blue he told me he wasn't a rangers fan and was ashamed to say he'd worn their tops, now hes a Celtic season ticket holder and goes to all away games. What do you think ? should he have stayed at ipox ?

I was an Aberdeen supporter in my younger yrs, but living with my 3 other brothers which were all hun supporters drove me up the wall with there ranting and raving. So to * them rite off i went out my to support there rival the only team in Glasgow as you can emagine the 80`s & 90`s were a little bit of a sore point, but even at the young age i new there was passion in my blood for the hoops and nothing was going to change that even with the pressure from my brothers so there was only one team for me, the One and only Glasgow Celtic.
Iv never looked back , and moving to glasgow a couple of yrs i can now follow my team and be apart of the family that spans the world as a hoops fan.

Hail hail. WE WILL NEVER WALK ALONE.

i didnt start following football till i was 9, 'supported' man utd for a year as my best mate got me in to them

however began to see the light during that season and started following celtic, cant remember exactly why i started following celtic, twas during the dark years of the in a row for the huns, so wasnt glory hunting!

think it was a no of things, the strip, van hooijdonk, and the old celtic view (newspaper style, loved it!)

u don't pick ur team, ur team picks u!

If you feel like a Celtic fan and you support the club, then that's all you need to worry about.
