My work(morissons) are selling this for 249....I can get it for 225. Not the greatest of specs I know, but wondering if it'd actually be any good//

Looking to get a laptop for myself, will need it mainly for web browsing, word processing etc. but when I get to uni, I'll be using it excesively, and may need to use a couple of sound/video editing programs...could this run something like that?

only main games I'll use are champ/football manager lol.

as I say, will mainly be used for that and come uni, word processing and the likes....but it may need to do some bigger programs, editing suites of such. could always upgrade the memory for that though.

Think I may just pick it up then. Got it on hold in the work till tomorrow. Just caustious of splashing 225 in on go on something I know isn't exactly going to set the room alight, but the price can't be beaten...I don't think.

Would be willing to go up to 275 if anyone knows of anything better for a few extra quid??

    Yeah, that should be fine.

You'll be able to play most games too with it.

Avoid it like the plague, it's a compaq and them * are awful. £299 with 1GB ram? ok you'll be paying less than that but still, also If you try to upgrade a Compaq you need to buy their parts, not generic parts (at least it was when I had a compaq).

Check the Dell website mate as I'm sure they we're selling good laptops with 3GB RAM for under £300 (seen an add on telly the other day about them)

Dell also twats to upgrade... but if you get a fair quality one for the price it should do you for a while with no need to upgrade. I personally wouldn't touch Dell either

I just got an ASUS eeepc 900A notebook from woot.com for $169. It comes with linux but works better with eeebuntu.
