Everytime MU sell someone Fergie gives it the old,"Well he's past it,he didnt fit in,We had issues,Its beyond MU to admit the truth that Ronaldo was desperate to join Madrid and they were given no alternative other than to sell the bigheaded poser.
Now theyll be saying it was good value and they got the better of the deal but truth is they swore they wouldnt sell Madrid a virus and ended up selling them there best player.
Will they admit that they won one small battle but lost the war ???

Don't believe a word Ferguson says in public, he's done exactly what he wanted with Ronaldo. Just the exact same way he did with Beckham before bringing in a young sand dancer from Portugal a few years ago.

I wonder if that guy they already bought Tosic will be the new Ronaldo? Nani I think is pish so he'll no be upto much. I wonder how Man Utd will handle it.

I dont think they have a great team without him, Rooney seemed to enjoy being in the shadow of Ronaldo and out the way of pressure, how will he handle having all the pressure on him to score goals etc

Will be an interesting season. If I was Man Utd i'd go for Ribery.

    Beckham

    Van Nistelrooy

I remember the frenzy when Fergie sold those two. He just kept calm and went about rebuilding new teams.

If history is anything to go by, he'll do the same once more, infact I'd say United are now in a far better position than what they was this time last week.

As for Real Madrid winning the war, Ferguson won't give a * about that, he's the master the mind-games and he's got the trophies to back it all up.

what ever happend with that deal ,you gotta admitt man u did well out of it.80 million for a guy who cost 12.5 a few years back

he has great skill "when in the mood" he can win games on his own "when in the mood"

real madrid have there hands full with him there and kaka....a battle of egos? no doubt about it

both of them ronaldo and kaka have a chance to become the best players ever if they work together,,if they try prove whos best between them they could ruin each other

Of course they're not going to admit it. Ferguson really didn't want to let Ronaldo go and Madrid/Ronaldo played him the long campaign.

In a way I feel sorry for Ferguson after developing him from very little, but Ferguson knows very well in this game that the big fish eat the little ones. Just ask Wayne "true blue" Rooney.

No doubt though Ferguson/ManU will bounce back and I'd imagine they'll still be the Premier team in England next year and in about the CL last 4 once again.

Beckham could be replaced, a master at crossing but didn't have an all round game.

Ruud was deadly but in a team like Man U strikers can come and go.

Ronaldo? I am not sure, I don't think it will be the demise of Utd but those games like Porto away when you need something special might be a lot harder.

    lol I don't think it's that simple. 1-1 perhaps?

Considering Fergie wouldn't sell them a virus and that player for player, Ronaldo is pretty much irreplaceable.

I don't know about all this fergie won business at the end of the day
Real Madrid wanted Beckham Van Nistelrooy and Rooney and that other one that Ive forgotten,Id say it was more of a case of
    Real Madrid 4
    Manchester Utd 0

Its a bit like us losing Scott Brown for 10 million to Manchester then kidding ourselves on that we got the best of the deal

well it would be a sweet defeat for sure. they are getting more money for a single player than anyone else has before. therefore I wouldn't call it a lost war, far from it.

although I think he's the 2nd best player in the world, man utd could replace his qualities with 2 excellent/very good players and a new/different tactic.

Both of those are in hindsight; Ruud and Beckham. At the time the uproar was exactly the same as it is just now if not moreso. Beckham was Barca's number 1 target and they failed to get him and RVN was the best striker in Europe statistically.

United have £80 million in their bank and a prima donna off their books. Albeit the 2nd or 3rd best player in the world.

    Correct.

Ferguson has got exactly what he wanted out of Ronaldo, just the same as he did of the other two mentioned.

I still say United will be there or thereabouts in both the EPL and the Champions League next year.

Real on the other hand will still be losing goals left, right and centre due to the Presidents inability to see that you actually need a good defence to win anything.

Oh, and they'll most probably be on the look out for another new manager.

I think sooner or later Ronaldo becomes more of a popstar than a footballer. his performances and even his attitude will become worse. he's gonna be a product, a brand and will allow Real Madrid to get more money in return than they spent on him.

It's a * gamble, if Liverpool or Chelsea win the title, no matter who they sign, the blame will be put on absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, the matchwinner, the 30-40 goal a season superstar.

However, Fergie has always let them go at exactly the right time - Kanchelskis, Ince, Beckham..

He shouldn't have let Guseppe Rossi leave though but that's another argument.

I reckon Beckham and RVN were far more replaceable than Ronaldo.

I mean after Ronaldo, (Messi/Kaka who are unavilable) what kind of player can possibly be an improvement? Whoever steps in will be a step down.

People didn't think Ronaldo was a step up when they signed him, no one was talking about him being the best in the world. Ferguson over the years has never been made to regret letting a player go (with Jaap Stam maybe the only exception), £80m is a lot of money, I'm sure if he was to bring in Karim Benzema and Frank Ribery he would be happy.

Even without Ronaldo, Man Utd still have by a distance the best squad in the EPL.
