Im not going to vote no because i would back any manager Celtic get all the way regardless of who it is although i would feel like we have been slightly shafted as we were linked with big names like Bilic so id like to see him here.

It would feel like the board had shafted us......BUT, it's not McGhee's fault, what Celtic fan wouldn't take it if offered? I`m a Celtic supporter all my life.....I back whoever is manager 100%.

I think the point being made is that, approach or not, these people are distancing themselves from the job.

Why approach Coyle when he has said no? Why approach Moyes when he has said no? Why approach Martinez when he gets 3x the cash at Wigan?

If they were on the shortlist, and believe me, even the papers dont pluck names from the sky, then they have already cold-shouldered an approach publically. It would be an embarassment to officially offer for them to knock back, thats a bitter pill for the board, when they can say that whoever gets the job was 1st choice, rightly or wrongly.

Was thinking that myself Hammer ,there were calls last year if Stachan had left then that McGhee could do the job and would be welcomed by the support ,it seems a year is a long time in football .

As much as I want to believe the press sit in a wee room making * up, I cant believe it is like that all the time. Source are generally people within the Club, whether we like to believe it or not.

I am not defending our press, or there methods, they are terrible, duly noted, but when this happens you seem to find that it is a calculated gamble by the club, to see how a potential manager/player reacts.

If Coyle had issued a "Come and get me" interview, you can bet your * we would have been in for him.

.....Then again you have to look it from any prospective managerial candidate's view point. They are hardly going to issue a come and get me statement...and then find out further done the line that they cannot agree terms.....How would that look to their present club and support?

Agreed man, but there are diplomatic routes.

"Of course if Celtic come calling you have to consider them" etc etc

I think a lot of people forget that they were backing McGhee to take control last season if WGS left. He's got Mwell into Europe in the two years he's been there.
I for one would back him 100%, along with Lenny & his no2 (as long is was not Leitch)
    C'mon the hoops.

My vote of No was a mistake btw, I would back any manager besides the likes of Tony Adams and Paul Ince.

Yet McGhee was installed as the new bookmaker’s favourite yesterday amid mounting speculation the Motherwell boss was to be handed the job.

At Fir Park, a spokesman was once again forced to deny Celtic had made an approach for the man recommended by Strachan to the Parkhead board.

Also a target for the vacant post at Aberdeen, McGhee’s agent Phil Smith was equally adamant, saying: ‘There has been no contact from anyone concerning Mark.’

Although I don't think he's good enough to manage us I would still back him as he is managing Celtic !
