Read in a few papers that 1000 extra officers are being sent on to the streets and into pubs to clamp down on violence....anybody else think its been blown out of proportion ?

Im from Clydebank and believe it or not i have never seen any serious incidents...

what do use think on the whole situation ?

Unfortunately, the RSPCA say they must be allowed out once a week

They're required, more police in the town on a match day the better.

If it deters one * from stabbing someone for the football team they support than it's worth it.

I dont mind the fact that they will be on the streets, fair play to that if like you said it stops one * stabbing someone.

But neccessary for them to be in the majority of the pubs ?

Well said, no-one deserves to be stabbed/attacked because of the team they support and if more police on the streets prevents this stupidity then they are worth it.

If they start wandering around pubs for no reason I'm against that aye, no need for it. They gave me a tug outside the hoops car for having a bottle of beer before but I've been fine any time I've been down the Gallowgate on match day apart from that.

Agree with that...me and my mate were standing in a taxi rank and he finished his bottle of beer and put it in the bin, as he put it in the bin two policemen walked round the corner - thinking we had done nothing wrong we got in the taxi...a few seconds later the police flag us over....get us out the car, cuff us claiming we didnt obey police orders as they claim to have told us to give them the bottle of beer and called for backup ! spent the night in the cells aswell !!

hate the police when they abuse their powers like that - but saving a stabbing i will agree with, standing about in pubs though ? they can * off in my opinion.

There is little matchday violence BECAUSE of the police, if the fans could mingle freeley then there would definately be trouble.

I had a bottle thrown at me as I walked passed a pub a few years ago after an OF, thankfully their aim was rubbish and missed but I wished there were cops around the pubs then - don't mind saying I was scared that day.

As for them abusing their powers then that's not on.

more police wouldn't be a bad thing, not in a mingling sense but if they were to just be there on stand by they would make things for everyone run smoothly

Dont agree with that at all ....You are entitled to your opinion i suppose ...Police are there to protect the public and if they are out in force then they are doing that ..You may feel intimidated by 200 yellow jackets when you turn the corner .. I feel safe :celt_2:

I used to go to games on the hardgate csc bus and it was always a nightmare getting home thro Yoker, we stopped going that way after the firemans axe came thro the window!!!( that was after the * WON the league at parkhead as well!)

I never watched an OF game in a pub in Cbank but most of the pubs were 'our' pubs or 'their' pubs, I think a mixed pub on OF day just makes a recipe for disaster, in Cbank anyway!!

which boozer do you drink in mate? I used to drink in the Goudie back in the day!!
