James Milner (ex Leeds, Newcastle, Villa now at Man City) played for our rival school team and we played against them a few times a year. He also used to do cross country when I was competing in that - he won all the races the whippet. Thats actually what I knew him for most until he popped up at Elland Road.

My missus went to all the way through highschool (same class) with Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale. She's a Leeds fan and apparently this Leeds born lad was a glory-hunting Manchester United fan so doesn't score highly in her book!!

I don't know him personally, but my Gran is Andy Gray's mother's cousin. I think that makes me his second cousin once removed or something?
The closest I've come to actually knowing/growing up with a footballer is a guy who went to my school called Doug Bergquist, now plays for Aldershot reserves. Decent player, knew him through secondary school when he played for QPR and then Reading, if he makes it it looks like it'll be through Aldershot. He's on Football Manager, so that counts for me :50:

Surely Mark Burchill's the last Scot to score a hattrick in Europe? Against Jeunesse (sp.) in 2000/01?

    Lee Wilkie - good guy.

Chic Charnley used to have a season ticket at parkhead in the seat behind me. Got some good banter off the guys around him and took it with good grace - even after he was playing against us.

I've played with and against quite a few players last season and a few years before that, who are now in England with premiership and championship clubs. Sam Byrne - Manchester United, he's a striker and I'm usually a midfielder but I was given the job of man marking him in a cup game before, thought I done quite well on him even though he scored twice, despite keeping him very quiet he got two chances and scored, I was gutted. Danny OReilly - fulham, played in the same team as him for four yearsn quality player. Shane Fagan - Coventry city, played with him for your years aswell, he's the irish under seventeen goalie very good. Lee Desmond - Newcastle, he was with us for three years, plays left back also very good. There's a few more.
