What about the other scottish clubs! Will they survive? Surely Scottish football would hardly have a following if the Old Firm left? Other then that, i want to see it happen!!!

    Hail Hail!

We definitely wouldn't have anyone to blame anymore if we moved to the EPL, there'd be no more talk of we're in a poor uncompetitive league; we'd be huge if we were in a bigger league; too hard to compete against richer opponents, etc..

It really would be an opportunity to see if we're up to it or not.

Just a note on the SPL sides who would be left.

With the OF leaving there would be more exposure to European football and the teams would have the opportunity to make more money and develop themselves into better clubs.

I think as long as they continue to produce young players the Scottish game could do well without us. The league certainly isnt as attractive without the big two, but the teams left could have a go at the league.

    It would be pretty even.

Apart from that i dont care and i only want to see Celtic do as well as possible

I personally think the SPL would thrive, competition is what drives a league. There has been maybe 3 or 4 seasons of competition in the past 20 odd years for Rangers and Celtic from other sides.

Television money would go down drastically but the European money would filter through the league after a few seasons.

    Could go either way, mate.

Who would want to televise a SPL without the OF.

Setanta would pull out, and Scotland would more than likely loose its Euro places within a couple of seasons.

BBC Scotland would end up having to offer some basic deal to keep the league afloat.

Imagine the coefficient points these mugs would notch up the first season the without us - would be laughable.

The SPL is one more bad season away from losing its 2nd CL spot anyway.

    Just a thought.

But does anyone think EPL clubs will just veto this if it goes down to a vote, due to the fact that they dont want Rangers travelling to their cities?

Seriously though It would need 14 out of the 20 Premier League clubs to vote in favour.

I can't see the big four plus established clubs like Everton, Villa or Spurs voting for it when it would reduce their TV revenue.

This post has single-handedly changed my years-long opinion against it. Well argued. :50:

The real problem is that at the moment, alot of Irish and Irish descendants support Celtic as well as Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. Teams where Irish have played before. Now they will only be supporting Celtic. They will be Celtic mad and that in itself will take away alot of the revenue of those top clubs. Hey I hope it goes through, I just hate getting myself excited about the prospect and it never comes to light:38:

If it did however I would go mental. Should we sign Torres or Berbatov first?
