When I searched on Google "why do people hate Celtic" (just for curiosity, since I'm not from Scotland), first thing that jumped out is this:

Looks like we aren't beloved by other scottish fans. Since I don't understand your domestic situation, would someone tell me why do Hearts fans hate us?

 

They are all huns aswell mate they are known as the wee-huns

 

OK, but what about other fans (excluding Rangers)?

 

My pal is a hearts fan and hates Rangers as much as some Celtic fans.

 

It's because we are better than them.

 

A lot of other teams hate the Old Firm as whole. They think we poach all the talent, are over-rated, get unfair treatment and that the league would be better off without us. When in actual fact they would probably go under without Celtic or Rangers.

 

The person who created that thread is banned, so that says it all really.

 

They do have a core that share Rangers 'beliefs' but these days the majority hate just both the Old Firm.

They might be the closest thing to Rangers in the SPL, but they are hardly a subsidiary.

Alot of people just repeat things they've heard.

I come from Edinburgh and a family full of Jambos so I know how much Hearts hate us. They REALLY hate us. Some Hearts fans hate us more than Hibs. It's true! There is a hardcore element of Hearts support that hates us for the same reasons Rangers do. The whole Catholic/Irish thing basically. Then you have the majority of Hearts fans who just hate us because we are good, are part of the Old Firm, sign some of their best players(and don't pay them enough for the privilege) and because they believe referees favour us whenever we play them. There is also an element of Edinburgh - Glasgow rivalry involved in their hatred. A lot of people in Edinburgh don't like 'weegies'. All in all they just hate us. They hate Rangers too but not to the same degree they hate Celtic.

Well said. But what about other SPL teams, do they hate us? And do Celtic fans hate Killie or Dundee United or some other team's fans?

 

I would say Celtic have a healthy disregard for every set of fans in the SPL, but I wouldnt go as far as calling it hate. Apart from Rangers of course, that lot can * right off !!!

I think fans dont like us, either individually or as half of the Old Firm, because we have monopolised the success available in Scotland, the same way that a Bricklayer hates the Foreman, or I hate my Manager !! We all work for the same company essentially (SPL), but we are the more successfull group of people who sit in the better Offices and have the better perks !!!

 

Did you read that Hearts fan thread? He really hates us, club, individuals and Celtic policy.

I didnt read it to be honest mate, I just assumed the general jist of it.

People can get bitter when they see success, and familiarity breeds contempt. Combined, the Hearts are familiar with getting beaten by us, and they are bitter at our success.

I think in the dark days at Celtic, Hearts say themselves as potential suitors to the 2nd club in Scotland moniker, as in being the Edinburgh equivalent to Rangers, finishing 2nd behind them season upon season, but when the Bunnet put us back on track, the 2 most successfull clubs were again from Glasgow !!

The point I am trying to make is, I class Hearts as "Every other SPL team"

If you were to look hard enough, you would find a bitter Hibs, Kilmarnock, Mothrwell etc etc fan who has the same views. If you look again, you will also find fans of the same clubs having the same problems with Rangers.

We are seen as the establishment in Scotland, the Superpower, and every other teams support has the same "Stick it to the man" mentality when it comes to playing us. For your smaller teams, a trip to Glasgow to play one of the big boys is like a Cup Final, as they see it as there little way to be involved in the chase for the title, because there are only ever going to be 2 winners.

Until Rangers go bust that is !!

 

Thanks for explanation of that. But I have another question: Why do they hate Irish in whole? Is that beause they are more turned to England?
