    Hi,

Hope you don't mind me imposing on your forum (great anti Man utd threads by the way) but would really appreciate any info you can give re: Aalborg.

Flying to Aarhus & back via Billund, so any tips on the best & cheapest ways to get there & back would be appreciated.
Also, the best bars etc in Aalborg itself.

    Thanks

Train will take you straight in from Aarhus, I think on the way back its a bus shot.
Stay in cental Aalborg as I stayed a couple miles outside in a sleep hotel but the taxi fare was unbelievable expensive.
    Nightlife is excellent
    Enjoy

    Hello and welcome mate.
If you don't have a ticket, you're pretty much screwed.
Celtic only got 800 tickets allocated with most gonig to Thomas crook so they could sell match packages.
No joy in the Aalborg end either as it's a small stadium and even the Aalborg fans struggle for tickets.

    Good luck

Bad news on the taxi - we're staying in the Zleep hotel too!
Still, its so much cheaper than anything else so no choice really.
Have got some contacts in Denmark, so might come up trumps with tickets, but not hopeful.

Regarding trains & buses, did you get tickets in advance or on board?
Not thinking of fare dodging or anything - honest!

    from a Dane

Im a Dane with Lousy English skills
    but..

A train ticket from Aarhus to Aalborg..
is something like 150-180krs.. or.. 14-15 pounds
    the trip is 2 hours.
no need to book ahead, when you arrive at the train station, buy it there.. they go every 30 minutes between Aarhus and Aalborg, and Ive never been denied a ticket.

a taxi in Denmark is pretty expensive but everyone speaks English (unless they are more than 70 years old) so just ask in your hotel reception or someone on the street for a bus into center (its not that big a town, probably only 15-20 minutes by bus)

Aalborg differs from other cities.. they have 1 major "party" street, its Called Jomfru Ane Gade.. you got 40 different clubs/pubs/whatever stacked into 1 small street..

I cannot link a picture.. but try writing "Jomfru ane gade" on google..

everyone knows where and what it is, so just ask for "Jomfru ane gade" pronouched

"yumfro ana gaide", "Virgin Anna's street" (its 20 minutes walk from the stadium)

now that is the best part about Aalborg, Due to all the bars being so close, theres a lot of competition..

    Tap Beer = 1.5 pounds
    Drink = 2 pounds
    (this is cheap in Denmark)

some places are more expensive than others, but the prizes are written so even a none danish guy will get it, on big signs outside each place.
if you are going there on a weekday.. make sure you check out all the signs, in weekdays some bars are insanely cheap.. on thursdays LA-Bar 1 Big Tap beer = 1 Pound

p.s. zmzcf is right, it is a small stadium, you wont be able to buy a ticket at the entrance for a game like this, make sure you have them pre-hand.

    Thanks for that.
What about the X-bus? Are they any cheaper.
The 918X goes from Randers, but can't find any price info online.

Hi Jimbo it looks like I am in the same boat. I'm flying to Billund and staying with family near Randers. No news from City about tickets but it dosent look good. Maybe we will have to find a pub on "yumfro ana gaide", "Virgin Anna's street to watch the game.

By the way we are not rubbing it in but find you guys very helpful. Celtic are my favourite Scottish team and its only natural to come here to ask for advice.
