I think Celtic have made an arangement with Derry City for exactly what this thread is about.

Although it maybe for reserve players not 1st team fringe players. They would also get to play a few rounds in European football as well as playing for a fulltime club in a tough league with a better standard than arguably the Scottish 1st division.

I now agree with timpark 100% as the reserve league is getting scrapped now.

i thought we should have got that kid mc carthy at the start off the season off hamiliton, but loaned him back for the season.no harm learning more off his trade in the spl this year.at 18 or so,he will become a stronger player.the difference between at the start off this season and the start off next season,is a millon pound or so.i remembeing reading lazio had like 2.5millon pound deal turned down, cant see that, but if were true,it would rule us out.no way would we pay 3 millon.but one millon at the start off this season could have been possible.

stupid thing is how can we help him adjust and settle when he is not here. Mizuno needs to adapt to Scotland cutural differences...how does he do that when he is in Japan....!!!

part of the reason hes in the reserves is the language barrier and culture shock . if you left him in japan for another year he would still need to overcome this.

not into that idea, they still need to adapt to scottish life, fit into the squad, adapt to the scottish game, learn a language if necesarry.

I'd rather we kept our players in-country, where the coaching staff can actually watch their progress. Man Utd do something similar to this, with Royal Antwerp, but they can afford to punt a couple of million on a prospect and see how it pans out overseas.

i still dont see what the benefits would be.

perhaps going to a lower leauge team where they are guaranteed football, or playing for a team in the same leauge that are guaranteed not to trouble for a top 5 place. (mcgowan to accies ect or along those lines)

Do sides on the continent not do this? Buy a player then loan them back to his old club to develop.

Think this is only really effective if he is playing in the same league or similar.

Would much prefer we brought them over then sent them on loan to DIV 1/ Lower SPL - That will make the beef up/ get knocked about and adapt to the game over here.

i do see where your coming from but i would tackle it from a different angle

i would buy the player and loan them out to scottish clubs so they are over here getting use to our culture and the way football is played in this country, if you were to let them stay in their homeland longer it may make them a better player but your still going to need to take time out to get him use to the spl style of play and the lifestyle he will live over here so really no point....

caddis to dundee utd was a great move, good team around him and playing week in week out (hopefully) can only make him stronger. Would do the same with mizuno mccourt and maybe hutchinson but with the hutchinson have a clause allowing us to recall him from loan if an injury crisis occurs

Well it comes down to whether u think first team football in a lesser team with that teams coaching staff is gonna get the best out of the player or will our coaching staff (despite playing in the reserve league) get the best out of them

WGS just said something about Hutchinson talking a good game but needing to learn to play a good game. That was a bit nasty and sounds as though there is a bit of a problem there. Been vague hints of issues with Hutchinson on the grapevine.

He probably wanted more games really. His reserve form merits it surely.
