"Paddy McCourt is one who has been really unlucky. He has made a big impression in the reserves but he has had a rough time in terms of injuries and fitness. We still have faith in him."

    Quote from Strachan yesterday.

If I hear another word against McCourt from you, Clagan, I'll stab you, ya cu... Nah, just kidding. I do hope McCourt turns out to be good, though. Christ knows we need some sort of creativity.

we do indeed but i think its a lot more likely to come from wee shaun, aidan or scott brown. we're in a bad run at the minute but i see no reason why we cant start playing like we were around xmas last year, we have a better squad this year

Its not like paddy was a big profile signing because he didnt cost alot. Hes been made to work in the reserves to try get to the standard of first team level, like all the other lads in the reserves. We all knew that was gona be the case, so whys theres so much negativity? I think a few on here should gave him a chance before passing judgement regardless of what league he played in before.

Yep we may be from Derry but because of that we have seen him amaze us with his ability for years, including playing European games against international players.

As a Celtic fan all my life believe Paddy will do the same eventually at Parkhead. :celt_2:

A low-cost signing (perhaps to keep club marketed well in Ireland if need be) who if he does anything would be a bonus, a mercurial player who often cant produce the magic from what I have seen. Would love to see him do well though, like every player who pulls on the hoops but I wont be getting on Strachan or anybodys elses back if he doesnt deem him good enough.

Paddy has a really good football brain and technique, up there with our other wide men. He also has the advantage of being a team players and knowing when to release the ball. Its clear WGS rates him and involves him in the first team from the bench every time he even gets fit for a couple of weeks in a row. I f he can stay fit, he will be a bench regular.

In fairness to the lad, I've seen him play a couple of times and he did impress me.... in the Eircom League though... No doubt he seemed to be head and shoulders above the rest. Any report that I've heard from his reserve games do seem to be positive. McStay had the below to say after a recent game.

I think that Strachen does rate him and that he has been unlucky with injuries. I hope that the boy makes it but I do have my reservations. I think that if he is to have any impact though, he needs to get some quality game-time under his belt and pronto.

we all get mad at no big first team signings in january but WGS may be a genius. what better time to develop our youth system at an exponential rate than when we're up against the worst rangers team in a while. people keep talking about pulling away and pummeling them while they're down but if we make big signings that's not really doing that. that's just rubbing it in for the short term. this is making our team much better than theirs in the long run

Would be nice to see the bhoy get a good few games for the first team and build up a head of steam. Going by the write ups he seems to have a lot of potential so fingers crossed for him that he gets (and takes) his chance!
