Is more effective coming off the bench.

Aye agree thing is Jan is just back from a long term injury and has looked a much better player than what Samaras is.

i just dont think the guy is any good. . .

I dont see how everyone thought he played well last night. . .He lost the ball on numerous occasions in the midfeild.

Th e midfeild was strangled enough, but samaras dropped deep all the time and invariably don nothing when he got posession.

Also missed a good chance, and although his header hit the bar, he should have scored.

Gave us an outball last night to take us 50 yards up the field with a run and that's one of his biggest strengths. Far better off the bench anyway still I think.

yes , yes, yes , he is much better coming off the bench, it seems he has more fight for the ball and his short bursts forward are more effective, i would prob start him before skippy , gae the wee mwn a rest for a few games.. in my op anyway

I've thought this all along. Last season showed that, the amount he scored coming off the bench. Gives the strikers out there a kick up the * as they know he is likely to come on, and also lets them work harder knowing they can come off if they're knackered. Also plays well with all 3 main strikers on, like the 2-1 game againt rangers last season when all 3 were involved in Jan's goal

He is much more effective of the bench for sure, Skippy plays much better when he lines up with Jan because JVOH is less greedy than Sammy and is a better link up player. Sammy is very effective at what he does and as Hammer pointed out his running with the ball from deep is one of his greatest strengths.

I would play Sammy as an impact sub, he'll get goals but I dont think that he has the ability to utilise MacDonald as much as JVOH does

Thought he changed the game, we had more movement upfront and he ran the channels more, had he scored the header what couldn't have been any closer you would say he was brilliant, hope he regains his forms and proves us all wrong!

I just dont see it Patto. . .

I thought we were under the cosh for just about the entire second half, that IMO had a lot to do with Samaras losing the ball time and time again.

I think he should have scored the header, and he missed a great chance in the first period of E.T.

All I know is that he was better last night than he has been in quite a few months.

He's not the best tbh but will score SPL goals. He plays too deep to be called a striker. Looks good when he's up against tired legs or our team are under the cosh using his pace on the break.

Good post alsyboy. Glad people noticed.

Hmm I dunno, he was doing pretty * good at the start of the season before he got injured. Him and JvoH would be good together as they have muscle/height, though McDonald is also rattling them in at the moment.

I just wish he could find the form he started the season in. When he's in that form, he's far better starting than sitting on the bench.
