I like & have liked the player since his La Real days, much less so the person. I never understood the pursuit in the first place owing to the fact that his best position is in the hole like Leo or out wide right where he played at Real Sociedad. He doesn't like playing as a winger anymore but that's where Valverde put him. So on balance, I would've not pursued him at all

That being said, he is here and I know he will work hard on both ends so every squad can benefit from a player of his qualities. Fit, harder to work but we'll see if Setien finds a way to do it. Suarez is out now so Setien may have landed the dream job but it's a bit nightmarish in terms of circumstances

I will say in Griezmann's defense, he has developed some good chemistry of late with Luis & Leo over the last month. Even in Suarez' first season at Barca, he didn't really click until February

Sounds like you want to fit your ageism into your own argument rather than weighing the factors particular to this situation so no, age has little to do with it - unless he was being wheeled around in a wheelchair or his heart couldn't tolerate some Messi excitement

Not unlike Celtic, Barca is not like any other football club - even Pep has said it repeatedly, you cannot just win at Barcelona you must play with flair & style that pleases the fans. We may be spoiled but we know what we like and I can tell you, Setien may ultimately fail at the club but he will entertain us with the football in a way Valverde never did...Yes, even at 61

At the press conference today Setien said the only thing he can guarantee is that this team will play well and, folks, that's what I want to see more than anything else. The rest will come

Setien’s teams play outstanding football, perfect for Barca.

Be interesting to see what shape he plays.

At least Barca will now go back to being exciting as * and dominating games.

Dunno what team they had out but just seen Atletico Madrid got put out by Leonesa, wee team in the lower level of Segunda division B.

Barca are a shambles right now. 2-0 down at Valencia 78th minute and looking clueless.

The switch up in management clearly hasn't worked at all.

And I thought Scottish refereeing was bad. Valencia corner; Busquets falls over (not really a foul) and Gabriel Paulista scores to make it 3-0. Ref gives a foul and then goes to his earpiece and VAR - so it's either a freekick to Barca inside the box or it's a goal to Valencia. I think the goal probably should have stood.

What is the eventual decision? After 2-3 minutes he gives another corner to Valencia... :39: * VAR and referees.

How’s that guarantee of playing well coming along for you?

Why did Atletico sign Felix? Looks like such an out of character self indulgence from Simeone. The team as a whole looks bereft of creativity which is only highlighted more when Felix has prodigious moments of skill met with no chemistry from his team mates.

They've got good players but they are very difficult to watch.

After 2 1/2 years of Valverde not preparing this team properly, only an adolescent would conclude a new coach could rectify that in less than 2 weeks

Your logic is that 2 1/2 years of work is comparable to that of 12 days - at least you're consistent

My logic is Barcelona should be shooting higher than a guy with a managerial CV of nothing.

    That’s it.

Then Pep would've never been hired, nor Rijkaard or Lucho - only dozens of titles, that's it

You’ve glossed over my entire point, again.

Did Pep, Rijkaard and Enrique have full careers behind them?
