Surprised at Davy Provans comments last night early into the match, " as long as Lennon is picking the team we can forget about Samaras & Hinkel.
I'm assuming that he is in the know and that this was not a personal observation by him.
This would be a major shock for me as I consider Hinkel to be streets ahead of any other option we have for that position.
Samaras can be a very frustrating player butI would'nt write him off completely, not without some severe coaching which is up to Lenny to organise.

Agreed not sure why our most consistent performer is carrying the can for Saturday, he is the only outfield player you can rely on at the minute.

Im not sure what has gone on.. Before the game Lenny was asked why Hinkel and Samaras weren't involved and he replied that Mark Wilson was in the team because he had "defensive know how"... I definately read it as though Hinkel was out of favour..

After the match Lenny was again asked about Samaras and Hinkel and if it was the end for either of them , but he replied No and that he was just picking a team that he felt would beat Motherwell..

A strange decision by lennon in dropping hinkel altogether from the squad yet he gives a place on the bench to braffheid who showed a complete lack of professionalism by walking out of hampden on sat because he wasnt even on the bench and lennon fining him for it, imo hinkel 10x the player bra-heid will ever be.

I think braffheid might be one of the under 21 guys that was required..
Just rememebered that lenny did mention the under 21 rule as being a problem for him and because of that he felt he had to leave out some players (Both for the Ross County and Motherwell games) who might otherwise have been involved..

if it is true that lenny doesnae like hinks, thats enough to reinforce my feelings that lenny would be a mistake, love the guy, but we HAVE to get the right manager this time

It's a weird decision imo, Hinkel is one of the best players we have, underrated if anything and even if Lennon wants him out, he should at least put him in the shopping window so to speak as I think Hinkel would be one of the players that would get most attention if we were looking to sell.

I hope he stays though. At the end of the day he still contributes a lot more going forward than he gives away at the back and I don't think he gives away much.
    Braafheid is 27.

Hinkle is mince. Always has been. No pace cant defend always out of position. A liabillity. We have been slating centre backs for ages but they are out of position covering for a poor right back who has gone awol.

I used to think Hinkle was * but to be honest he's stepped up and was the one player we could mostly rely on to put in a good shift. Especially this season.

Bejesus I thought he was just a kid..

I think the only explanation can be that Lenny was willing to sacrifice Hinkel's attacking play to favour Wilson (Who I'd guess is regarded by Lenny as better defensively).. Wilson has been in Lenny's reserves side for most of the season and done well and maybe he felt he'd be a safer bet to keep the shape of the team against Motherwells counter attacking play.. Possibly a sign that we'll take the winning ugly style over flair with the 2nd place at stake.. Maybe if the situation was different Lenny would have gone for more attacking play from the full backs at home..

Hinkel is the most consistent performer in the squad.

One of few quality players we are lucky to have, it's beyond me why he isn't playing.

That's how I used to feel mate but at some point this season he changed my mind. He definately hasnt been as good as everyone is saying for a long time but has showed that he's improved alot in this time of the need for someone to perform.

Hinkel has been our most consistent player all season, yes he's made a few errors but overall he's probably been our best player so I don't understand why he was dropped.

Hinkel deserves to stay- at leats when he is on the ball- I don't automatically 'cringe and shut my eyes' unlike the rest of the defenders.
Hinkel is good in a solid back four- it's just that the rest of our back four is made of 'sand'!

maybe lenny just wanted to take him out of the team for a game to freshen it up and cause its that daft u21 rule he had to leave him out completly
