Negativity tonight

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Rendog, Sep 1, 2016.

  1. A lot of negative chat with no new signings tonight. A 5 v 0 thumping of the newco and a wee draw vs barca, and tonight will be a distant memory. Things are going well at the moment for us all so stay postive bhoys. In Brendan we trust :celt_2:

  2. Time for Ajer to step up. I genuinely trust him. I've a feeling the kid is very talented. I think a lot of people are overreacting because of this deadline day but we need to remember we've had a good window. Clearly people have every right to be annoyed but we shouldn't overreact. It's tough for us to bring in a CM of high quality on our budget. By all accounts we got pretty * close with McCarthy.

Brown, Bitton, Ajer, McGregor. We can cope with Armstrong as extra back up. * it.

  4. The negativity is well earned.

Banking £30M and not spending a dime, Lawell is famous for saying all funds to back into the team, well not in this instance.

The midfield is absolutely pish, every Celtic fan I know feels the same and we've got another season of them.

A centre midfielder and the window would have been great and there would have been no complaints.

I honestly can't see the manager putting up with this for long.

  5. Done with now I suppose.

We will still pump that lot and as for Europe..just need to see. Still looking a * of a lot better than it was 6 months ago.

January could be a big window for us.

  6. Do you honestly think rodgers will be unhappy? To be honest the calibre of player needed to improve the squad was always going to be hard to get. We could easily have signed another project player but what's the point? We were looking at top players by the looks of things.

  7. Nice to read a bit of sense here :50:

  8. I think he will be unhappy at not getting the Centre mid he has been going on about for the past couple weeks.

We don't know the ins and outs though so I'm not going to throw accusations left right and centre.

  9. Yes I do, he's been speaking of signing a creative player constantly and we have failed to deliver.

What are you on about projects etc. The board have earned £30M and have spent none of it, what's the point?

  10. Brendan understands the constraints we work under. If we couldn't get a high quality CM in there was no real point taking a punt on an unknown.

  11. I'm sure we'd all have been ecstatic if we were offered this scenario at the end of last season.

    Brendan Rodgers for Ronny Deila

    Moussa Dembele for Carlton Cole

    Scott Sinclair for Anthony Stokes

    Kolo Toure for Charlie Mulgrew

    Cristian Gamboa for Saidy Janko

Kristoffer Ajer and Dorus de Vries also added.

    Plus Champions League football secured.

This is just the beggining, we will strengthen further in January and ship out some of the leftover deadwood.

nicely put. Also Kazim Richards released. Allen sent out on loan, if he shows up semi decently he'll be quickly a $2Mil player by English transfer standards.
Only thing that slightly disappoints me is that we dont loan out more players to Championship or League 1 such as we did with McGregor, if they do well in the English leagues their value shoots up.
Of course, disappointed we didnt bring in a DCM but all in all its been an excellent window.
Lets not forget one of Rodgers strengths is working with younger players and bringing them through.

  12. We are clearly stronger than last season but huge surprise we didn't bring in a bit of quality in midfield after qualifying for the CL. Be interesting to hear Brendan's thoughts on that.

  13. This has been of our most succesful windows in recent memory. We've also got tons to be optimistic about with Brendan at the helm. Think alot of people are overreacting still to the Beer Sheva away game and completely forgetting our performances agaisnt Astana and the home leg to the Israeli's. I expect us to be competitive in the Champions League this year, even if that means scraping 3-4 points and finishing last, we will not be an easy team to play against.

That being said, this team really needed a CM and Rodgers knew that and Lawwell knew Rodgers wanted one and it didn't get done. Brendan was assured that he had the board's backing and he has had it so far to a certain extent. Didn't get any real investment till we had beaten Astana, and even after qualifying we barely spent outside of a quality signing in Cristian Gamboa.

My point is, with the money we've made this summer and the succcess we've had so far, I wanted Celtic to show that "Yes we are for real" and really back Brendan with a big time splash of the cash. Doesn't matter how hard Lawwell or Brendan tried, we should've got that player in. For me it doesn't matter how close it came or whether it was down to us or the player, ect. The great teams almost always get the player they want cause money talks and they know when to just get it done and dusted. This deadline day just kinda stung a bit for me, as it feels like its same old, same old, even with Brendan Rodgers in charge.

  14. You fail to realise that Brendan calls the shots and for whatever reason he has decided against trying to bring a midfielder in. So I assume he trusts what we have already in place , I like everyone else wanted more but I am happy to trust Brendan's judgement.

Something I found interesting was that we wanted a cdm yet Brendan apparently stated publicly he wanted a creative player. He never added the creative player so I assume he's happy with Rogic as the creative hub of the team. It will be interesting to hear his thoughts on it all.

  15. :50:

  16. Antz, i think we are fortunate that Rodgers is not a big baby like yourself.

  17. absolutely :50:

  18. The midfield is a sore one. We shoulda had 2 never mind 1.

Dependant on Gamboa and De Vries we'll see how that turns out as we-re still poor defensively. Here's hoping they improve that.

The league should be fine, as for CL it's going to be a sore one, I'm hoping most of you delighted with it are happy to pledge you're £99 and not bother about the results.

  19. That's why you're Vice Captain :notworthy

I'm still delighted with my club right now :ynwacelti
