Loovens was rock solid, and so composed.

Mcgeady was a standout though, the only real player with a touch of class in the side, I think he is going to have a great season under mowbray, the signs are good, and I for one hope we hang onto him for a long time. :50:

We dont disagree on everything tonight sir :50:

Energy and determination should be basic requirements, 60,000 fans gave all the determination and effort in the world tonight, it wont make them great footballers.

Scott Brown is pretty overrated. He makes too many mistakes and doesn't score enough.

Loovens had a very good game. McGeady just shaded MOTM in a Celtic jersey tonight. Thought quite a few players had a good 1st half, Hinkel in particular. As for Scott Brown...he's distinctly average, you can count on the one hand the games that hes actually stood out. Yes he has bags of energy and enthusiasm but what about his end product? His goalscoring average is around 1 goal every 9 games (4 per season!) He struggles to pass the ball 5 yards, never mind 50. All this talk about potential! - He's 24 years old! He's not a young talent coming through anymore. 10 million...I'd bite Rednapps hand off for that!
Anyway moan over, roll on the Emirates! They've used up all their luck tonight. At this moment we're almost out - lets go down there, attack from the start, ask more questions of their backline and see what happens. The hoops to win on penalties!

Aiden was decent. Brown was back to the standard of last season, passing let him down.

  10. Mate,
I agree with the fact he isnt worth the price tag,
but he is an energetic bhoy who get all over the park.

McGeady did well to be the only player that could keep possession for more than 1 touch, but he still played the entire game with his head down going nowhere in particular.

I'd agree his passing lets him down a lot and he is very over-rated at times. I used to be one of his biggest critics here, but I've also come to appreciate how important his effort can be.
Against a team like Arsenal, Brown gives us an energy capable of momentarily diminishing the talent gap in midfield. Other than that period after half-time where everyone played as if they were half-asleep, Arsenal didn't create * for chances. Arshavin was especially quiet.

As you often say, horses for courses. No player in our side can do it all. Brown keeps us stuck in box to box and offers a lot of movement off the ball. It's up to players like Maloney, McGeady, Donati, Fortune, McCourt to find a pass.

N'Guemo was best player for us, but I'd say Vermaelen or Gallas were chosen for man of the match.

For Celtic every player put out a decent shift in terms of work rate and defending. (O.K. caldwell gets minus for conceding the free-kick and the O.G.)

But! I think only McGeady and once or so Brown offered anything going forward. McGeady carved open 2 great chances for McDonald and Fortune to get free on the right. So I'll give McGeady a 7 (Celtic MOTM), Caldwell a 4 and everyone else a solid 6.
